How many points for "The Next One"

How many points do you think he'll score in his first full season with the Oilers?

CONSIDER
- Benn won the Art Ross with 87 points this year.
- He will need time to acclimate to Edmonton's new system (Given the fact that the team is likely to have a new coach named Todd from Saskatchewan)
- Sid the Kid scored 102 points in his rookie season and many have suggested that McD is ahead of Crosby at the same stage of their career.

50 to 60 for a rookie campagned

while we like to call him McJesus we should wait till year 3 for him to walk on water, turn water into wine and solve all other universal problems

Those are for good #1 rookies, not McDavid/Crosby #1 rookies. 60-70.

Really depends... if some of our other young guys can bounce back and/or take that next step, he could have a really good supporting cast to play with. But realistically, I think 50-64 points.

Less than 50.

Now I can be impressed when he outdoes my guess!

What might be a more interesting question is how much his production and play will influence Nuge's numbers and vice versa.

Not many teams have defensive pairings that can handle two separate lines with wingers named hall, eberle, yakupov, ______ when you can interchangeably move RNH and CMD.

It will give opposing teams many headaches --- which is good for business because then Katz can offer then bulk pricing on Advil and Tylenol.

Easily 80 points, this team may not be good defensively but I see ample pp time, and playing some top line minutes occasionally

The one thing I will add is humility and humbleness he will say all the right things but he wants to be the best. He isn't a flake like Daigle who was extremely arrogant.

50-60.

Crosby scored a lot more, but he was THE offensive option on his team, and they had a better defence, and scoring was higher 10 years ago (seriously make nets bigger, it's the only way. 6'6 goalies my arse).

MacKinnon scored 63 but he got to play wing on a team stacked with veteran centres and, again, got some cushy minutes and much of his team rode some really high percentages, which accounts for so many assists.

The Oilers have a glut of forwards, which means less power play time and offensive zone opportunities for McDavid, while at the same time we have the worst defence in the league and we spend too much time in our own zone as a consequence. Plus, receiving a pass from Justin Schultz requires more skill than even McJesus possesses. We're lucky one of our forwards hasn't been decapitated as he's had to look down into his skates to try to get a Schultz pass to his stick.

Somewhere in the 60-70 range with a chance at more if he and one of Hall/Eberle/Yakupov have amazing chemistry.

I think that's the safest bet. He could of course blow those numbers out of the water, but I'd rather set my sights a little lower. So I voted 65-79, but I think he'll be on the lower end of that.
