Hardest slapshots are about 160 f/s and the distance from the center to the goal is 89 feet. Therefor Matthews can score a goal every 0.6 seconds when rounding up to the nearest tenth. That means exactly 2000 goals in a period, 6000 goals in a game. With 82 games per regular season, Matthews could score 492,000 points in a season.

You must realize that this is only a few games. He can go zero points in his next 5 and lose some of his confidence and another player can repeat what Matthews did and keep it up for longer.

I don't think you leaf people completely think about this yet

125. It may seem high. But, he really has no weaknesses

He is 45th among centres in Assists/game since he entered the league. I would say that playmaking is a weakness.

Based on last year's scoring level, a 100 points seems reasonable with a goal total that could be the best of his era.

Play making isn't a weakness, his 1st year he had Hyman who had ZERO finish, and his 2nd year he tied his assist total from his 1st year in 20 fewer games

There are no true weak points in Matthews game

115 at most. Don't think he has the playmaking to get to 120 although if the Leafs are for real all season maybe he'll grab some freebies from the pure offensive pull.

OK, he was 35th among centres last year in assists per game. If is not a weakness, it certainly is not a strength, and not enough to potentially put him above 100 points.

Like I said he missed 20 games that can't simply be ignored

Oh good, another one. Just when I thought “I wonder why no one in Leaf land is talking about Auston Matthews fast start” this thread gets bumped
