The Dallas Stars resigned a large number of their young players today, including forwards Dominik Kahun, Lawson Crouse and goaltender Mikko Koskinen. Dallas, currently hold a playoff spot in a weak central division, despite many believing their chances at the postseason were weak at best entering this year. Additionally, Dallas inked highly touted prospect Karill Kaprizov to an ELC. If Kaprizov can come over soon for the Stars, their offense will surely benefit. Dallas is a young team on the rise, and these signings leave less for the Stars to worry about so they can focus on their run to the postseason.

NOTE: The HFVHL Trade Deadline is set for February 26th at 12:00 AM PST.

In other words, our trade deadline will fall a full 9 hours later than the NHL's. As with last season, this is to account for GMs being busy during the day and needing that extra time to make deals in the night. Any deal that ends up in the trade tracker's inbox before the deadline will count as valid, assuming that all teams involved remain compliant.

NOTE: Tryamkin astutely noted that Rasmus Asplund was originally drafted in the main draft and later traded to Chicago. Somehow, he either never made it on to the roster sheets in the first place, or he was lost in the shuffle very early on. Normally I wouldn't bother making a note of something like this to everyone, but given that a number of teams have tried to sign him despite his eligibility in this year's entry draft, it's probably best that everyone is made aware of this.

In other words, Asplund has been (re-)added to Chicago's roster sheet. Do not try to sign him or draft him in this year's entry draft. Thanks.

EDMONTON OILERS REGIME CLEANSE

I am happy to be a part of the Oilers organization, where there is a rich history of winning, and a rabid fanbase ready to get a taste of that success again. We have a plan moving forward, and it will take some time to get this ship sailed in the right direction, but we feel it is possible to bring the playoffs and eventually a Stanley Cup back to the City of Champions.

The Oilers have been previously mismanaged so poorly, and have been left with few assets. The last regime traded the teams' first round draft pick in THIS years draft as well as NEXT years draft, which would've been one of the more valuable pieces for this franchise moving forward. With that being said, it will not stop this management group from rebuilding this roster - we have been left with no choice other than to tear this down from top to bottom, and start over. This roster is so far from being competitive that we would only be spinning our tires if we tried to push for the playoffs now.

With that being said, here is our current official roster.

Phillip Danault - William Karlsson - Andreas Athanasiou
Marcus Johansson - Adam Henrique - Dylan Sikura
Paul Byron - Jesperi Kotkaniemi - Tage Thompson
Dmitrij Jaskin - Chris Tierney - Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson
Janne Kuokkanen

Calvin de Haan - Aaron Ekblad
Sami Niku - Adam Larsson
Andrew MacDonald - Jon Merrill

Mike Smith
Jusse Saros

IR:
Christian Dvorak
Nick Schmaltz
Marc Methot
Marian Gaborik

Bolded players are not going to be moved. Everyone else is moveable.

Top Moveable Pieces:
William Karlsson
Adam Henrique
Marcus Johansson
Aaron Ekblad
Mike Smith

We want picks/prospects/young NHLers in return for most pieces. This is the group of players we want to trade the most before the TDL passes.

This franchise is in real trouble after the last regime clearly didn't know how to run a hockey team. No first round picks, three retention slots used, little to show for top end prospects, little to no core of players on the main roster. It makes you wonder how such a management group lasted so long, and was enabled to run a team into the ground. The fans in this city deserve better, but because of the last management group, this team has been setback 3-5 years, if not even longer.
