My bad on the wait! Knew I had a pick coming soon, just completely forgot today.

:sens select RW Jonatan Berggren

1 (4) - RW, Filip Zadina (Halifax, QMJHL)
1 (22) - RW, Jonatan Berggren (Skelleftea, SHL)

That's some serious skill injection right there. I was definitely thinking of Berggren at 28.

With the 28th pick Washington selects Serron Noel, RW from Oshawa of the OHL.

@McDNicks17 and Detroit are up next!

All of the cliches seem to apply: size, tools, raw, boom/bust, (very) late birthday. At this point in the draft, and with their current NHL forward depth, the Caps can afford to take a home run swing here (yet another applicable cliche) and let him develop his game in the OHL and AHL. I came away very impressed with Noel at the U18s, namely his skating and hands, which were terrific not just for a player of his size but for any size. I believe he has the potential to impact the game in several ways and that he represents great value at this pick.

Best possible outcome: Blake Wheeler

:caps

1 (28) - Serron Noel - CAN - RW - 6'5" 209 lbs. - Oshawa Generals (OHL)
2 (46)
3 (90)
4 (121)
6 (183)
7 (214)

I was very close to picking Noel at 19 so this is a solid pick. Definitely a boom/bust type but if he pans out a lot of teams will be kicking themselves for passing on him.

I didn't really want to go with two defensemen in the 1st round, but I really like this guy in the second half of the 1st round.

The Red Wings select Jared McIsaac.

With the final pick of the first round, the St Louis Blues are pleased to select the feisty Frenchman: centre Benoit-Olivier Groulx.

Really like his two way game, leadership, scrappiness and upside. Will fit like a glove in the Blues system.

@Jimmi McJenkins You are up with the first pick of Round 2.

Some of the picks from 21-31 went differently than i expected. I always like doing the mock draft because I learn more about guys especially outside of the top 10.

On the Serron Noel mentions... I gave him some thought at 26 overall, mostly because I have so many picks that I don't mind making some riskier ones and he fit the bill. Went with Denisenko instead though cause I perceived him to be falling (McKenzie), the NYR are building their own lil prospect Red Army, and his package of speed and skill was impressive.

I wanted Berggren or Thomas to be there at 26.
