The Canadiens select from Bryans defenseman Adam Boqvist. Montreal media may now proceed with losing their minds.

Please PM next.
Wanted to comment on this pick when you made it but didn't wanna break the OB rule. I could totally see the Habs going away from Zadina with this pick but I think they'll try to hit a homerun with Hughes if they do. Their right side is set for a while, and if Hughes pans out him and Weber could make a solid top pairing for a number of years till Weber retires.

He does indeed, and I feel like he's not only the BPA here but is also a nice fit for the Avs. They don't have much in terms of RW depth on the team or in the system. Pretty stoked to get him here because if not for Kaut it would've been a much harder choice, mainly between three other european forwards who also have very high upside.

I strongly considerd Kaut at 10, he almost reminds me of Draisaitl in a way, good size and use’s it to protect the puck very well.

Yep, exactly. It's my favorite kind of player. Big, high IQ guys who's good along the wall and can both make plays and finish them. That's what I liked so much about Draisaitl and Rantanen when they were draft eligible, and Chytil last year. I see some of it in Kotkaniemi too. I guess it's a euro thing, haha.

Yeah I think Zadina is a safe choice. I see him as a 25-30g / 60pt sort of player which is a great addition for a team. I just don't know if he's going to produce enough at the NHL level as a winger to outweigh taking a chance on a potential #1 defenseman.

I also think there's a lot of variability in whom NHL teams have ranked as the second best defenseman behind Dahlin. What do teams value more? It will be very interesting to see what name Montreal calls at the draft and how that affects the next picks. I'll be especially curious to hear Bob Mckenzie talk about which teams had who ranked where, and if player X hadn't dropped to a team they would have likely taken player Z. Especially in this draft. You never know the full story but it's great to listen to as a draft junkie.

Quick random question. Is there a big difference between a PM and a mention?

There may be in terms of how you set your preferences, if you get an email notification and such.

I’ve been doing the @ alerts, seems more efficient.

Good pick. He’ll go a lot higher than 20th. Borderline top ten talent.

I was contemplating Hayton and a few other prospects that were more boom/bust. I think Haytons a really solid player but lacks a bit of explosiveness. Decided to not overthink the pick. I think he will likely go in the 12-20 range so getting him at 20, I think is pretty good.

I am extremely excited to be back here for the draft, it's too bad San Jose traded away their 2nd and 3rd rounders.

That said, with the 21st pick, San Jose is proud to select, from the OHL's Niagara Ice Dogs, C Akil Thomas!

Round 1, pick #21 - C Akil Thomas
Round 4, pick #114 -
Round 5, pick #145 -
