Nice pick. Could slip into one of the later rounds in the actual draft. Although I'd probably compare him to Teddy Purcell more than Maroon. He's got the size but doesn't play with the aggressiveness that Patty does. Brazeau has an excellent release on his shot, good puck protection and has decent straight line speed. He also scores a lot of goals in the dirty areas.

1 (5) Evan Bouchard - D - London (OHL)
I've touted Bouchard before and I shall tout him again. He's ranked 6 by McKeens and ISS, 8 by Future Conisiderations and 15 by Hockeyprospects.com, 6 by Button, McKenzie had him 5th. I know some of the takes involve Bouchard not being as explosive in terms of rushing the puck but I tend to favor size still. He has the mobility and along with size/strength he should be a safe bet to be an all situations guy. He led the Knights in points, he led the OHL defencemen in points, he led the CHL defencemen in points. he was top 10 in points in the OHL among all players. There are whispers he can play in the NHL next year and I think his floor is palatable as a top 5 pick and his IQ may make him a really great defencemen.

2 (55) Jay O'Brien - C - Thayer Academy (HS-MA)
Its hard not to like scouting reports of Jay O'Brien; A Right Shot scoring centremen. He is fast. He has great work ethic. He has dangles up the whazoo. He can run a powerplay on the half wall as a playmaker. He loves to forecheck. He scored 43 goals and 80 points in 30 games. How is this possible you ask? To which I would answer it was at the high school level, you fool. Still....this is the same tier of production you saw from Parise, Toews and now Donato. He is committed to Providence next year so some team will take him in the 2nd and hope he develops well in the NCAA. Ranked 31 by Hockeyprospectus. 40 by Future Considerations.

3 (65) Jan Jenik - C - HC Benatky (CZE2)
I just read that he's 364 days younger than Brady Tkachuk. Billed as a lanky centremen who has recently impressed with competitive play at the international level. He is ranked 94 by future considerations and nowhere else. Is this a reach? I think his international play and kamikaze style of play could impress some teams and being the youngest player in the draft he should have some room to bulk up yet to better compliment his cannonball play style. I also wonder if this is a guy who would benefit from coming over in the import draft.

3 (73) Blade Jenkins - LW - Saginaw (OHL)
He comes off as a good ol' meat and potatoes guy with a grade A name to boot. He had a respectable 20 goal 44 pt rookie season on a team that really didnt score a lot. Perhaps they should look to add.....one....Jan Jenik at the import draft?

3 (74) Albin Eriksson - RW - Skelleftea (SHL)
I've read bits and pieces about this guy and it was equal parts blasting him for "work ethic" and raving about skill and one on one moves. At 6'4" 210 ilbs he seems like a guy who could go anywhere if a team panics when the guy they actually scouted gets taken. There was some talk that he had bad IQ in terms of dangling at all times regardless of the situation and causing turnovers as a result.....but that was from a Habs scouting site......which we all know is worthless trash. He would be a real interesting guy to watch if he starts improving his game over the next few years.

6 (158) Kristian Tanus - C - Tappara (SM-Liiga)
He's a crafty little playmaker. Kristian was lurking in the shadows of Kotkaniemi's WJC performance. Played with Kupari and Ranta vs. Czechs and had a nice game. He's at a ppg or more internationally.......could go undrafted.

7 (189) Caleb Everett - D - Saginaw (OHL)
Lots of room to improve. IF Blade Jenkins is meat and potatoes then Caleb Everett is.....a loaf of bread. He is heralded for playing a safe simple game.....but....according to OHL wrtiers.....he had a nice start to the season trailing only Bouchard, Merkley and Sandin before he ran out of steam in January. I will dub this my sneaky sleeper pick since ...after doing some light reading.....I'd expect this guy to go 1-3 rounds earlier.​
