What exactly has Batherson done to be over WHL/CHL dman of the year?
proved himself in a better league

over a PPG in the AHL (62 P)
9P in 20GP with the Sens
7P in 7GP in the WJC

FYI, past CHL Dman OTY include:
Anthony DeAngelo
Derrick Pouliot
Ryan Sproul
Jonathon Blum

Good for him and all, but proving yourself against men is a major difference in my book.

Batherson is two years older, when was Ty Smith supposed to prove himself against men?

Pretty weak argument IMO when Ty Smith hasnt had the chance to play men yet will play in the NHL this year at 19.

There are a lot of PPG players in the AHL

right and if Batherson's a Devil youd be voting him every poll. We get it.

Smith may play, doesnt mean he'll be good. Ask those I mentioned.

the guy's a shrimp, but Heponiemi possibly has the best stats out of anyone in the past 2 seasons

OVER 2.0 PPG in the WHL in his D+1, and almost a PPG int he SM-Liiga age 19 :amazed:

9P in 7GP at the WJC

Wouldve been top 10 if he was an Oiler and not a Panther, I know that!

Love Heponiemi. Watch his tape...might think you are watching Finnish Jack Hughes.

Lmao so I show the age difference and how Smith couldnt play in the AHL so he hasnt played men, yet you dont have a counter argument

I see I won this back and forth lmfao. Sorry Batherson wasnt as impressive at 19

Thats not even an argument! lol.... youre just stating a fact.

Its a fact that he HASNT proven himself against men yet and Batherson HAS. So I guess thats good for Batherson, no? understand? Need I paint a picture?

"I won this back and forth lmfao"..... what are you 12?

Oh so every young succesful player in the NHL was bettee than McDavid before he started?

I mean, experience against men and all.

You lost this argument when your rebuttal to the age difference and success at that age was ‘youre a Devils fan’.

Better luck next time

yeah Ty Smith and McDavid... same tier. Great arguments.

The fact that you think this is clear cut at round 18 shows that all you are is a homer. Youve probably been voting for Smith since round 2.

Go back to the Devil's board, homerboy.

Batherson is most proven, imo (AHL and NHL)

Frost
Hayton
Cozens
Smith
Sandin
Fox/Miller/Valimaki

Batherson is a good option here.

Realistically, both him and Tyler Benson shredded the AHL this year as rookies and are being overlooked by the shiny new toys. I mean how is Benson not even an option for a “next up” list when he just had 66 points in the AHL as a rookie.

Benson and Batherson (even Steel to a lesser extent) aren’t getting nearly as much love as they should despite them being better than a majority of the remaining names.

He gets so overlooked like crazy. He’s a major reason why Bakersfield was such a powerhouse in the AHL this year. 2nd in rookie scoring, first in rookie assists, and 3rd overall in the entire league in assists as a rookie.

Should have been the AHL Rookie of the Year with 66 points in 68 games (Barre-Boulet who won had 68 in 74 games). I liked him or Batherson for the AHL Rookie of the Year over the winner.

Benson would have way more hype around him if he wasn’t injured throughout his junior career. He rewrote the Bantam scoring records in Alberta a few years back.

He’s an exceptional playmaker, former #1 OA pick in the WHL Bantam Draft. Likely steps in as a top 6 winger on the opening lineup and never looks back.

There’s actually not a lot of PPG players in the AHL. It’s a more physical and lower scoring league.

Go check the stats out yourself and see how many PPG players there are. You’ll be shocked.
