Burns trips AA on a clear break. Gets a penalty. An Oiler barely slashed Kane last week and they give him a PS. No standards

Burns' stick was on the ice and got the puck first, before the trip. That was the difference between a penalty shot and a penalty.

In 2014 rule 57.1 paragraph 3 was added so that in situations where a penalty shot might otherwise be appropriate, if the defending player "dives" and touches the puck first (before the trip), no penalty shot will be awarded. (In such cases, the resulting penalty will be limited to a two-minute minor penalty for tripping.)

So the refs got it spot on, actually.

Didnt see the oiler/kane slash though.

But anyway, how 'bout those sharks? Moved past Vegas in the standings already. Only 2 pts out of "playoffs" if they were now. I think they are "back".

Jones had another "sub .900 save game" where he was one of the top stars. (Howard was .842 for the game, and then crapped the shootout)

the rule is total nonsense and allows thee absolute most exciting play in hockey to be wrecked time after time , while also time after time puts the breaking away players health in danger via end board and net crashes

"allows the absolute most exciting play in hockey to be wrecked"

Well, the play itself was absolutely exciting. It was a massive, epic, heroic defensive effort to get the puck and prevent the scoring chance, even if it resulted in a penalty.

And then there was the subsequent powerplay (which some people also find exciting.)

So I dont know where you get the idea that excitement was wrecked - unless you were just pulling for the wings or dislike the sharks (and then it has nothing to do with the rules, right?)

You'll have to fill me in on "clown based" - that slang hasn't made it here to new zealand yet.
see this opinion of yours " Well, the play itself was absolutely exciting. It was a massive, epic, heroic defensive effort to get the puck and prevent the scoring chance, even if it resulted in a penalty.

its the opinion of a clown as in somebody that doesnt know what theyre talking about . power plays arent even real hockey , and ive no idea what your getting excited about when your using the words massive epic heroic ? mean while its blatant obvious fact to every hockey fan the breakaways hockeys most exciting play .

Oh. Is that all "clown based" means? I thought it would be something exciting. :/

you spelled "great desperation defensive play" wrong.
remember before that rule, that wasn't even a penalty.
