That's what you want from every draft pick - consistent improvement every year is a very encouraging sign.

Yikes, looks like he's over by 4 games. Just seems odd that most would consider him a prospect, but he doesn't qualify because he played 29 NHL games.

it's a fair point, but you have to set boundaries otherwise everyone is eligible. next year we can change it to 50
games if everyone likes that better.

i was torn between andersson and frederic here, but doesn't appear to matter.

I think a 25 game limit is fine. If you aren’t considered a rookie in the NHL anymore you shouldn’t be considered a prospect.

welll im happy I got 3 of the top 5 on my sim team...

right or wrong about how we rank the kids I think most of us should agree we got a deep talent pool with lots of promising names to put into these slots. that wasnt always the case.

there were a lot of years we used to have 2-3 prospects in the entire system that looked like they could be nhl pros {but part of that is we used to rush all the kids straight into the nhl too}

it was an eye opener when tsn did their top under 23 team last year and both pastrnak and McAvoy are technically the age that a lot of 'prospects' havent even made the nhl yet

fans can bitch and wine all they want about not drafting barzal… we get a lot of our picks correct

Crazy to see how many people have soured or come down on Trent Frederic.

He was PPG in college after being doubted by everyone, myself included, when drafted.

He left college after just two years and joined Providence where he had 5G in 13GP.

Played 15-games in the NHL at age 20.

Scored 14G in 55GP in the AHL last season as a rookie, which is good for a 20G pace.

Those numbers are really good for a young, physical, big, gritty two-way center.

I haven’t soured on him, I’ve just adjusted my expectations. I’m also pretty high on Senyshyn. I think Frederic’s floor is 3rd line center but he just isn’t ready yet. I think Senyshyn could play on Krejci’s RW next season and not look out of place.

What? I'm just commenting that people really seemed high on Frederic before he played, and it doesn't seem to be the case any more.

I think the optimism will be back if he has a strong camp and/or puts up points next time he wears a spoked B. But we could have had Schenn for him before that cameo.

I mean if its the way we've always done it then I wouldn't change it. I only even noticed because I created a spreadsheet with prospects and their HF ranks from year to year. Was interested to see how many guys rise, fall or stay around the same. That's when I saw JFK wasn't listed and wasn't sure why.

Ya its funny to see when you look at his previous rankings on these boards:

It looks like he'll be 7th, but Keyser could be a wild card that bump him to #8 depending on how the Steen voters go. I do think many will take Frederic over Senyshyn, but we'll see. I think some people have soured because they had unrealistic expectations for Frederic's NHL debut. However I also think Frederic is a victim of the shiny new toy in Beecher and people getting hyped because we heard so much about Studnicka last year.

Of all the prospects ranked so far though, Frederic could be the first to fall compared to last year.

He was #2 on the rankings last year but I had him more at 4 or 5 last season. He did drop a little for me this year after noticing how large of a gap there was in just his skating ability compared to nhl players this season. He is still young and plenty of time to improve but I don’t see him ever being an above average skater at the nhl level. Also I don’t see him being anything more than a 3rd line center.

He may be one of the closer prospects to making it to the NHL in a full time capacity but I just think there are others with higher ceilings. So he’s definitely dropped in that aspect for me at least.

kind of the shiny toy with upside syndrome. we all watched kuhlman and can probably peg what he's going
to be. nice player, maybe 15 goals, good up and down the lineup guy. similar reason why a guy like kuraly
was a low ranked player in this poll.

There's some of that for sure, just thought he'd get a little more votes than he's getting . I mean, he's had very few votes thus far.

Soured?... People put way to much importance in a fans prospects rankings during summertime.
I mean this is a wishful ranking... with less than 100 voters.
Don't get me wrong... I follow it and vote on every single prospect, but you know, it's for fun.

If he said fans instead of people would that be better? He's not entirely wrong though lol. Frederic came in at #5 among HF Bruins Fans in 2017, then #2 last year. This year it looks like he'll be 7th/8th in the rankings. If the Frederic slipped from #2 to #7 in one season by fan vote, you wouldn't call that souring?

This isn’t a zero sum game - I like the development and new faces through the organization which is no knock on him at all

Fans instead of people... really? You think that would change something?

Its fans wishful list. No more no less. No souring no spilled milk.

You completely avoided my question lol. He was #2 last year on the "wish list" and now looks like he fall to 7th. If fans/people (whatever you want to use) have dropped him 5 spots on the "wish list" in 1 year, what happened?

This "wish list" is the HF communities opinion on the rankings. Clearly the opinion has changed on Frederic...that's what @BruinsNetwork was getting at and he's not wrong.

Or... with new players fans have different choice/opinions.
Or...

Beecher is the only "new player" to receive votes. What else you got?

Listen maybe YOU didn't sour, but that doesn't mean others haven't. Again to drop 5-6 spots after being #2 is telling. Now if he was ranked 3 or 4 this year, ok you have an argument...but that's not the case.
