Some interest as in one person called their florida contact. “Hey who has called today?” “Carolina briefly asked about Trocheck.” Ohh let’s report that.

Trochek seems like a bad move. He could resurface with us or be an anchor we cannot move later. Also, he isn’t a center type that Brind’Amour wants.

edit: Florida has a ton of righty defenders as well.

Maybe a Righty-lefty swap.

Interesting because Friedman has called Canes things in the past. Trocheck plays the type of game the Canes want but his wheels may be falling off. Right handed middle-6 center is pretty ideal for a forward addition.

Looking at Trocheck's career, I question whether it's wheels falling off vs 17-18 as an outlier. Other than that season, he's a mid-50s point forward:

15-16: 76 games, 53 points
16-17: 82 games, 54 points
17-18: 82 games, 75 points
18-19: 55 games, 34 points (51 point pace)
29-20: 55 games, 36 points (54 point pace)

And his Corsi and rel Corsi are above his career numbers this season. His shooting percentage is below what it was earlier in his career, but above last season.

I normally hate looking at these forecast reports to judge a player, but this sounds a lot like what RBA would like in a C:

Has very good playmaking ability and deft hands. Plays a smart, cerebral game with solid two-way instincts. Can play both center and wing, and can be used in any game situation. Lacks ideal size (5-10, 182 pounds) for the National Hockey League game, so he must continue to add bulk to become stronger and maximize output at the highest level.

Good to hear on Trocheck, he checks a lot of boxes for the forward group, especially if we do end up moving Haula.

Damn that's quite the return for JGP...wonder what Trocheck would cost given they want a top 4 D.

A 50-60 points right handed middle-6 C is just about the best forward addition the Canes could make if the cost was reasonable. I've just seen Florida fans say that Trocheck hasn't been able to skate well since his injury which was a big part of his 3-zone game.

If his skating has fallen off a cliff I'm a bit wary. I'd be interested but it sounds a lot like what we were expecting Haula to be.

Imo I didn't notice him at all when we played earlier in the year.
