I kind of feel bad for Bouchard. All these people pumping his tires demanding he plays will likely be the same ones with the knives out the second he makes a mistake.

Seems like injuries have taken their toll on him. Tough to be a punishing physical defender when you've got back problems.

Problems with his back every other day and I guess the loss of his father hit him harder than we can imagine. Dude's the definition of being lethargic.

His locker room presence must be over the top. There's no way I'd give the "A" to a player whose body language screams: "Please end this game already."

I keep seeing Russell as the second pair. He is not a good defenceman. Easy zone entries and doesn’t move the puck. Last game, almost every time he had the puck coming out of the zone- you would see forwards flying down the wing waiting for the pass, only having to stop at the other teams red line- wait for Russell to shoot it in, and then have no speed to get in the forecheck- puck moves back the other way. Brutal. I’d rather have Jones-Barrie or Lagesson-Barrie.

Jones looked bad in the first few games- but his issues are fixable. Russell is Russell- expect no offence, and the puck to be in the defensive zone.

Agreed; Koekkoek seems like a guy who has worked on perfecting the details of what is needed for being a high-level, defensive D-man in today's NHL.
