Hmm Forsling just signed for under 6M per at 8 years. Hanifin isn't 1/3 better of a dman than Forsling.

Perfectly fine deal honestly. No pending UFA of that calibre at that age will sign without an 8th year. Pretty standard.

If you’re not willing to give 8 years you get no top talent.

Can Vegas sign him to an 8 year deal? I thought it would only be 7 years.

Whatever happened to seeing how a new player fits in with your team first before throwing long term contracts at them?

Hasn't anyone learned from the Huberdeau nightmare?

Most of UFA is long-term deals to guys who never played. This is a 27 year old 23+min/game D, not the worst long-term deal you'll see.

I think this is a good deal for Vegas. $7M for a #1LHD who is still young. Should not age badly at all.

Wish it was more

The Knights are hellbent on winning right now. They'll cross that bridge when they get to it. Besides, Hanifin doesn't strike me a player who will age poorly.
or will be old when it expires.
