Hard to complain about 8x7 if you are a Knights fan. We can copy and paste every single “ooohhhh that’s gonna suck on the back end!” comment from every single long-term UFA/UFA to be thread but from a cap standpoint, that deal is well under market value and Hanifin has a ton of good hockey years to come.

People are saying worry about the back end? He just turned 27. By the time this deal is questionable that'll probably be what a 3-4 dman costs and he'll probably be that.

With an 8 year contract Hanifin will be 35 when the contract expires. Certainly not an age where Hanifin will be infirm. He'll probably lose a step but he's smooth enough and smart enough to compensate in other ways.
