I guess I see your point, but suggesting Chicago trades DeBrincat at all kind of ignores their team needs.. he is on his ELC for 2 more years, and scored 28 goals this past season. Chicago is a cap team and isn't Hanifin an RFA? I can't see the 'Hawks moving him at all, at least not until 2020-21 when they know what his contract demands are.

I think the value is there, honestly. However another RW probably won't really make sense for Carolina so I guess this trade is a no go from all angles.

The fact that he’s a RW kills it. Unless they don’t draft Svechnikov, but at that point Waddell will be unabe to make a move as we will be busy rioting outside his office.

I agree, everyone seems to be ok with the value but the Hawks reaaaally need the ELC help which should make Debrincat borderline untouchable for them.

LOL
Both born in 1997 ... Same age !!!
Like I said ... I'll take Debrincat + for Hanafin
D take longer to develop in NHL than F's
Hansfin hasn't even scrathed the surface of his ceiling while Debrincat doesn't have much room to grow

Thats unfortunate for Debrincat, since hes 5'7

Canes want to get harder to play against, adding a guy who is 165 lbs isn't helping that.

Why....does Debrincat not have room to grow (aside from the short jokes).

@Mickey the mouse you think Debrincat is already peaking?
I think he's an undersized F that isn't a very good skater, avg at best.
He does have a nose for the net and a good shot but it's going to be really hard to keep up his shooting % around 15%.
He's NO WHERE Kane nor will he ever be so what's his upside .... 30/30 or 60-70 pnts ?
Hanafin can put 50 - 60 pnts up from backend. Put him on Wild and give him Suters' ice time and PP time ! Or better yet let him run Hawks PP with Kane!

Avg skating but it hasn't really hindered his style of game. He isn't usually the puck carrier on his line. He has really high IQ and his ability to move the puck around is pretty good. He had 52 points this season but if you think he is capable of 60-70 then it means you don't think he has peaked yet.

Not really looking at Hanafin, though i don't doubt he can do 50-60 occassionally (don't think perennially). I'm just thinking that Debrincat hasn't peaked at this stage. He avged at 14 mins a game last season so expect that to rise along with his shot totals so even if he lowers his shot %, it should even out with the additional ice time and shot generation.

Other teams have definitely made better pffers

Who?

The main ones thus far:

Buffalo? ROR is a terrible proposal...a lot of expense with likely no benefit. We don't have a lot of room to improve defensively and I'm not sold on his O actually being better than what we can get out of Staal with decent linemates and unshackled from Peters.

Van? #7 is a straight-up loss. We drafted Hanifin at #5 and he's done nothing to not justify that position. The only defender in this draft that is definitely better than peak Hanifin is Dahlin.

Toronto, Edmonton, Boston:
"Pile of stuff" offers that explicitly take comparable assets off the table.

Debrincat isn't enough but he's actually someone that fills our need for scoring, provides immediate returns and is in the right age range. That's better than ROR, a pick that won't substantially contribute on NHL ice any time soon and most-likely never reaches Hanifin's value, or "stuff."

so his upside is what he nearly already almost put up in goals and points this year without playing with Kane....as a rookie?????

In a vacuum its pretty even, but considering Hanifin could really take off and make this look bad if imagine CAR would want a little more
