you really can'T read between the line, can you ? he surely will never say " I WILL BE MILKING DOWN THE TEAM" but it's what it means, he will trade some key players for other key players. Try to read between the line sometimes it might help your objectivity
lol he literally says "if everyone comes back we're ok with that" and you still come with this nonsense? Reading between the lines means we'll trade anyone if the price is right and an improvement can be made. No, sorry, that's not reading between the lines, that's literally taking Waddell's comments at face value. He's being up front. There is no fire sale, but we're open to any deal that makes us better. So, you know, pretty much how literally every other team in the league will be operating this summer.

Ahh ok. I was reading “we aren’t desperate and this isn’t a firesale” objectively as truth when really I should have been focused on the objective subtext of “OH MY GOD WE ARE HAVING A FIRE SALE”.

I can bet with you that you will trade at least 3 players, I can see Skinner, Rask and Hanifin/faulk being traded.

How is moving 3 players like that that "milking down the team"? Rask was a non-entity for the season and was even scratched a few times so isn't a "key player". Skinner is a UFA in a year and likely gone after next year so it's just good asset management. Faulk/Hanifin would be a hockey trade as you suggest.

That's hardly "Milking down the team". If they start trading guys like Staal, TT, Pesce, Slavin, etc.. then I'll agree with you.

EDIT: accidentally typed TVR instead of TT.

Wait TVR? Really? I'm very surprised to see him with those names

TVR isn't a main piece. He is just a great 3rd pairing RHD that can step into the top-4 in a pinch. The Canes have no reason to trade him for fair value (which I'd say is a late 1st given that they traded a 2nd for him last year).

Lol no, he’s a fine 6-7 that’s it.

ha ha. I meant TT (Teravainen) and accidentally typed TVR.

I don't think TVR is a core piece at all, but I also don't think they'd move TVR either. He was a very good 3rd pairing guy last year so if we move him, we'd need to find another very good 3rd pairing guy to replace him. He holds more value to Carolina than what they'd get for him.

Hanafin is top 4 D man for 10+ more yrs in this league....WAY more valuable than Bebrincat
He'd be the Hawks #1 .... YES #1 ahead of Keith
He's got way more offense to his game, he needs a change of scenery
I am not arguing that Hanifin is a great player, but why trade away DeBrincat if we can get Hughes, Bouchard, or Dobson at 8 who all could be equal or even better than Hanifin? Any one of those kids are maybe 1-2 years away into the NHL...just doesn't make sense for the Hawks to do that.

Lol, stop being ridiculous, if Hanafin was that good, we would never see as many trade proposals about him. DeBrincat is 20 year old, who already has almost 30 goal season in his portfolio.

A vast majority of Hanifin proposals are started by non-Canes members so that 'if he's so good why you keep trying to trade him?' narrative doesn't work.

You can usually tell who started the thread by the horrible misspelling of his name.

As stated before, Debrincat is good but we have his position locked down already so there's no point in making any amendments to try and make a move on D-Cat.

Are Carolina fans not happy with DeBrincat as a return for Hanifin? That seems like a solid offer. Not even sure Chicago does that.

LOL
Both born in 1997 ... Same age !!!
Like I said ... I'll take Debrincat + for Hanafin
D take longer to develop in NHL than F's
Hansfin hasn't even scrathed the surface of his ceiling while Debrincat doesn't have much room to grow

I didn't bring the trade up, just commented on it

I'm not sold on Hughes at all

If you wanna ignore our team needs and what we have on the RW already maybe, we'd still need more than Debrincat to move Hanifin.

I guess I see your point, but suggesting Chicago trades DeBrincat at all kind of ignores their team needs.. he is on his ELC for 2 more years, and scored 28 goals this past season. Chicago is a cap team and isn't Hanifin an RFA? I can't see the 'Hawks moving him at all, at least not until 2020-21 when they know what his contract demands are.

I think the value is there, honestly. However another RW probably won't really make sense for Carolina so I guess this trade is a no go from all angles.

Honestly... yeah we kindof are. Main thing we'd be after on a Hanifin trade is a similar aged center with high-end upside. There aren't a ton of teams out there that do have the asset we'd be looking for that would potentially be available.

The Blackhawks window is cracked because they have Debrincat making sub 800k for next two years.

It depends on what the motivation for moving Hanifin. If it’s because his contract ask is too rich or because the organization is bearish on him long-term and wants to cash out now while he has good value, DeBrincat as a value play is attractive. If it’s purely a case of trying to make the team better in the long-term, DeBrincat is a sub-optimal fit for a team with the question marks at center and on defense it has.

Yeah that's what I thought just seemed a odd to see him grouped in with those names

Okay makes a little more sense that way haha

Definitely a very solid depth piece just threw me for a curve seeing him listed next to Aho and Slavin lol
