I am thinking players like Crosby-Eichel-Draisaitl-Barkov type of level.

Habs have great propsect and young player but will need $ to make room .
So Danault + Drouin/Tatar as to be included for cap purposes.
And propsect and picks as well

If you want a superstar....you've got to be willing to part with Kotkaniemi and/or Suzuki. Romanov probably has to be included too.

Nobody that has a top 10 player is going to move them unless they demand out.

Even if they do demand out, you won’t be able to keep all your best young players *and* pull the “you gotta take these two guys you may or may not want anything to do with to make it work from our end” card.

for stars I imagine it starts with top player, top prospect, top pick. To get those types of players you usually have to give up pieces you don't want to. Any trade for those top notch centres starts with Suzuki being involved.

You sure aren't getting a Crosby-Draisaitl-Eichel-Barkov caliber players for what you're proposing here. You want any of those players then Suzuki and Romanov need to be included as well.

Listen up fellow Hab fans....

You will NEVER, EVER get a young franchise player without emptying the farm. NEVER, EVER

PLD would of cost us Suzuki AND Guhle AND more. So now you just gave up two cornerstones of your franchise, of which one may be equal or better then PLD. Is tjat smart asset management?

OR another way to get a franchise player is through an offer sheet, which means that your next 4 first rounders as well as 10% or more of your cap space.

OR sell off everyone over 25 for prospects and pouch season after season until you get lucky.

OR sign them in FA. Which again will be at least 10% of the cap.
