They didn't burn everything to the ground, but for me, a tank is more to do with the tone from management.

The Habs are not trying to win, and management is trying to put out enough barriers on the ice to ensure that to be the case.

When a management's main objective for any given game is not to win that game, I think we have entered tank country.

Their main objective has been player development and I think its been apparent we've seen that. They aren't trying to compete for the play-offs because they don't have a roster that can do it.. but again, that's more in line with a rebuild than a tank.

A tank is what Chicago is doing.. the Canadiens kept Allen around, they let youth play when they were better options than veterans. They didn't trade players for pennies on the dollar just to be worse.

Crikey what a mismatch! pitting panthers up against p***ycats,ya just know how it's gonna end up.lol.
That #57 looks promising though, any relation to Eugene Levy?
Whats the deal for next season? will they try to win games and ice the most deserving? 2 seasons of tanking is getting old quick and as much as I find some of the zealotry hilarious, enough is enough.

Next year is the transition year.. they will be able to get out of Hoffman because his contract will be up at the end of the year, term will be down on Dvorak so he'll be moveable.. Edmundson is getting traded. They may buy out Armia or find some solution there. Allen could be gone to give Monty and Primeau the chance to establish themselves as 1s. Anderson should be moved at the draft.

Should be looking at Matheson, Gallagher (albatross), Savard as the 'vets' on the roster.

No one cares
That's dangerous. People thinking he is going for the puck don't play hockey, bottom line. That's a classic, I'm gassed and need to end the guys scoring opportunity. Gross hockey.
I agree, he dove into Barron's legs and you could see JB's wtf reaction when he survived slamming into the boards. This could have been a disaster that could have resulted in a broken shoulder or neck, it was a malicious play. He also gave Pezetta a dirty shot earlier in the game, and he attempted something dirty every shift he played. He is a scumbag player.

All very well and good but I'm curious how those vets will perform after taking 2 years of playing down diminishing their value. The games I caught it was night and day when they actually gave a concerted effort, and that's with more than enough AHL'ers and new blood on the roster.

Other than the Anderson move (unless there's a fantastic offer), I agree with the rest.

I mean, I can't argue with that either. Pretty sound argument.

I take it you don't like Slafkovsky. 18y/o Power Forward with top-6 skills isn't a Winger who will make this work?
Slaf is a power forward? He doesn’t play that kind of game. Sure, he’s big but it takes more than that. The Tkachuks are power forwards, they’re physical, they’re in their opponents’ faces and space continuously.

Slaf plays more of a finesse game. He’s certainly not taking full advantage of his physical attributes. He is talented, just not a power forward.

Since the league won’t intervene to deter this kind of move, the players will have to do it themselves.

I was surprised there was no penalty on this play. He literally dove at Barron's knees, super greasy. I even remember the TSN broadcast talking about how it doesn't matter if you hit puck first anymore, it's still a penalty if you trip them.

dude slaf is 18 years old, how about you give him 3 more years to make that statement? He didnt have a crazy dad like the Tkatchuks had also!
How about you read the post I was replying to? That post says that he’s a power forward. I’m not the one who made that statement. I merely responded to what was presented as him being a power forward now.

Of course he’s 18, of course he’ll evolve and all that other future development to look forward to but that’s not the question.

Is he a “power forward” right now, yes or no? That’s the question so I don’t need to wait three years, the post was expressed in the now.

They call that in the NFL for christ sake.

I think we can unequivocally say the Habs never tanked. They embarked on a rebuild which happens to many teams, especially when the star power of their core ages out/retires like Price and Weber in our case.

They sold players who were not going to be the right age when we were competitive vs. what Chicago did trading players like Debrincat and Dach, or Arizona with Chcyrhun.
Exactly we are just bad and could have been much worse if that was what they wanted.

The entire post was just wrong because none of what was claimed was even remotely true based on his play.

He fought two players ?
The second fight occurred as Deslauriers was being escorted to the penalty box.

It was a very short fight since the linesmen intervened quickly and got in the way.

See for yourself:

We will have to disagree on that one
Wish we had someone to reduce Arber’s fighting load. Someone who could do more than just fight, obviously.

Getting someone like that probably won’t be easy as teams tend to hold on to such players unless they become too expensive.

He's not a great 4th liner. All he's good for is fighting and hitting. He doesn't bring much offensively or defensively.

Offensively I agree but what does that mean on the 4th line and for D he was good enough to be used on the PK.

Currently we have players like Pitlick and Pezzetta on our 4th. Pitlick is not good enough to make it to the top9, let's stop putting those guys on our 4th. Pezzetta is an adequate 4th liner hockey player but not a really effective enforcer, Deslauriers would be an upgrade for both enforcer/4th liner role.

We probably will have a sub 6' player on each line of the top9, I'm fine with it if they're really good AND we mitigate the issue by having a solid 4th line (not just top9 tweeners like Pitlick and Gurianov soon).
