Hi guys, I'm looking for input from Habs fans regarding what you think you will need to add to your roster to make a deep playoff push this year.

Also, what assets would you be willing to give up to acquire those players that can help you?

Thanks for your quick response.

Right or left shooting winger or doesn't matter?

Would you have given up your first for someone like Perron?

It doesn't matter right or left.

I know Perron has a year left on his contract after this season, but a first pick was a hefty price IMO, a 2nd is more what I would be willing to give up.

1. top 6 winger with some size. Chris Stewart ?

2. A top 4 dman stills a need. Cody Franson is first on top of my list !

Willing to make an offer with Pateryn, Beaulieu, Eller, DD, Fucale....

Pacioretty – Galchenyuk – XXXX
XXXX – Plekanec – Gallagher
Desharnais – Eller – Sekac
Bournival/Prust – Malhotra – Weise
Parenteau

XXXX - Subban
Markov - Beaulieu
Emelin/Gonchar - Gilbert/Weaver
Allen

Tokarski

Would be the ideal line-up. More realistically, a top4D and a top6 winger. Parenteau, DD, Bournival and Prust can all be had for upgrades. Same thing for Allen, Emelin, Gonchar, Gilbert and Weaver. Other pieces includes prospects like Thomas, Lehkonen, Reway, Pateryn and Nygren.

Scherbak, McCarron and Tinordi could be had if we're blown away by the offer.

Talked to my diehard Buffalo fan friend today, he said that he would let go of Stewart for a 2nd and a B level prospect, but that Murray thinks that he can get a 1st for him

I don't think they'll split up Markov and Beaulieu, and Gonchar is fine in the top 4 for now, I would love Montreal to get a guy like Franson, but I don't think we should give up Prust, or Bournival to get Franson. I personally love Bournival and Prust is just too well liked in the locker room and plays a complete game, he shouldn't go anywheres..

I don't want another rental unless the price is cheaper than Vanek. We'll have spent the equivalent of three 2nd round pick (and then some) for nothing long term. I'd rather fork over a 1st and a better prospect for a younger player or someone signed long term.

I suppose if the team starts to play better (possession and power play wise) and looks legit by the deadline then maybe it'd be worth rolling the dice.

As others have said, a #3/4 d-man and a top-6 (or arguably top-9 if you are making more balanced lines) winger are the needs.

I don't think side matters.

But I don't think the Habs can or will be in any bidding wars for those guys, and won't give up their 1st for a rental. (I sure hope not, anyway - but Bergevin's modest past track record suggests he's of the same mindset).

Tlusty, Stafford, Glencross, Sekera, Petry are oft-mentioned targets. This year I can't see the Habs being interested in any lesser depth players. They have that covered. But the guy they get ought to be a sneaky-bargain type of pickup again. Whoever is left once the bids have stopped coming in, Bergevin needs to be ready to swoop in to deliver that last desperate deadline seller from the shame of being left holding their guy. Or stand pat. Stand pat is preferable to me than giving up a 1st for any of these players.

Priority order, no1 is mandatory :

1- New coaching staff. NHL and AHL.

2- 2nd pair right side D-men with size and physical edge.

3- Top 6 wing with size and physical edge.

Willing to give up 2015 1st and any prospect not selected in the 1st round.

The way the Bergervin works is similar to Ray Shero as Pierre Mcguire and Michael Farbar pointed out in two interviews. Bergervin always add something before the deadline. Bergervin isn't the type of GM that sits like Pierre Gauthier or pressured like Bob Gainey. MB always looking to improve the team like adding of Vanek, Ryder on the right side. We all know our weakness is on the right side so I expect a top 6 right winger is what MB is looking for.

Mikkel Boedker
Adam Henrique
Justin Braun

are players he'll likely target, young speedy two-way with size.

R or L does matter to the Habs.

I would have given the Habs' 2015 first for Perron. It's questionable that a pick at #20-30 would turn into a top forward or D man. The only good reason for not doing is that Bergevin might want to use it for a different trade.
