I don't want him playing as much as he did last year, but $900K is a good number. If we bury him in the minors his cap-hit is $0, nothing to complain about there.

Good number, solid #7. Interesting to see how happy the team really was with his play last year, giving him the 2 year deal.

Garbage player. Garbage contract in the sense that he has one. And at 2 years? Even if he does end up in the AHL he'll just be taking time from prospects.

Not a fan of the player but it's cheap and doesn't cost anything if he gets sent down, so okay.

His teammates and coaches seem to really love him.

All joking aside, can't really complain about this contract. Gryba is a serviceable #7 dman

At that price it a pretty tough to hate the deal. Like I have said before, I don't mind him as a #7, I would just prefer if he played less than 20 games for us this yr...

Just waiting on the Draisaitl contract and we're off and running.

I wanted him back. Didn't see the need for a 2nd year, but that likely brought the price down a bit.

I think he's an excellent locker room guy who accepts his role as a 7/8 D-man. I don't mind seeing him in the regular season, but never in the playoffs.

Pretending that everything is bad and wrong all the time has started to look like performance art more than anything else.

This is incredibly dumb. 2 years for Gryba? How did he have the leverage to demand 2 years? This is the type of guy who you maybe sign in September.

$4.9M for Russell and Gryba. Disgusting

He was the worst player in the entire playoffs, total garbage and a liability every time he was on the ice. Regular season depth sure but he better be buried way down the chart come playoff time.

Annnnd that's the end of positive in the thread. NEXT! :sarcasm:

He never should have been here this past season, cost us in the playoffs, and now he's back for 2 more seasons. Don't care if he's got gritensity. He's the Matt Hendricks of our backend. The only d-man on the team who was a minus player and this is while getting the second highest offensive zone starts and his most common linemates being McDavid/Drai/Maroon.

This "serviceable" depth player cost us last season, and he'll cost us again over the next 2 seasons. There is zero upside to this signing other than he's probably well liked in the dressing room.
