I really hope Salah can make this game, but I have my doubts. By the way, if someone wants to post stadium info have at it, but when I did it four years ago it felt like I was wasting my time.

I'd pick Uruguay even if Salah was healthy & they started f***ing Vecino over Torreira or Bentancur. They should open a lot of eyes with the way that they play against a hard bunkering Egypt. That new generation can really play, and not just destroy.

I have them beating France in the QFs if the french don't gel and they don't stumble into that scary side that they could be with a Mbappe, Dembele & Griezmann trident playing ahead of Fekir/Lemar, Kante & Tolisso/Pogba.

I have Uruguay as darkhorse of the tournament, they have the most underrated squad. Very few teams with a front line as good as Suarez-Cavani, or CB pairing as good as Godin-Gimenez, and their midfield is stacked with talent.

Their 3rd striker impresses me more than some big nations' starter. Like I'd take Gomez ahead of Costa, Lukaku, Giroud (if France started him), our Gomez (if Jogi started him), or Higuain (if the Messi's start him). And even their fullbacks could be in for bigger moves after this WC, as Laxalt is incredibly dynamic from the left and Varela has looked very good for them on the right.

If France implode, or at least sabotage themselves with dumb starting lineups, we should see Uruguay back in the semis...though I would favor Brazil to end their run there.

Messi Fc won't start him... it's Kun barring an injury. Then Pipita will come to the "rescue". Dybala might as well have stayed in Argentina. he'll only play in the 3rd game when top of the group is secured.

Which, let's face it, is pretty much an eventuality. If Reus & Aguero are still healthy enough to play against one another in the SFs, I will be absolutely flabbergasted.

...that would be the easiest money prop-bet ever; Aguero or Reus to get injured before the semis? If you could get someplace to offer you 1:1 for that, you should be dumping your life savings into that bet

If he does get hurt I hope it's early that way Higuain gets to fail early, hopefully forcing Samp's hand in Dybala as a 9 while there's still time to salvage the tournament.

Very excited and optimistic that we will beat Egypt. Anything can happen but we have the better team and history on our side.

GL if there are any Egyptians here. Hope for a fun game and sucks Salah won't play as I'm still a Liverpool fan even after Suarez left.

What’s wrong with Vecino? He’s a solid player and an important one for Inter whereas Bentancur barely plays for Juve. Torreira should be a starter though.

Just that he's not Bentancur and I've been a big Bentancur fan for a while now lol. Really wanted a BuLi club to buy him before Juve made the move. Vecino isn't bad, I just think he represents more of the previous generation of pragmatic midfielders, in contrast to the more dynamic blend of skill & steel that Bentancur & Torreira bring to the table.

...eh, they might be.

But Salah could also shred them for a hattrick on his own. Especially if they start to get cocky & play Ignashevich again.

If Salah gets a lot of time on the ball it could very well play out as you have said. Russia will be happy to just keep the ball and get a draw, should be good enough to get them through, assuming Egypt picks up an L tomorrow.

Yeah a draw vs Egypt assuming Egypt loses tomorrow will probably see Russia qualify unless they lose badly to Uruguay

Egypt is a paper tiger even with Salah. They lack unit cohesion and teamwork. Uruguay gets one early and coasts to a 2-0 or 3-0 win.

I don't see Egypt as a strong team so I assume Uruguay will win but I definetely don't think Uruguay is as good as others are wanting to rate them. I'd even argue that they were better in 2014.

Game is at 5am on the west coast, probably going to record it and watch it during the Morocco/Iran game.
