Nice to see some goals tonight. Better performance. Still lots of mistakes that need to be corrected, but the Griffins needed this win and were fortunate that Hershey is not that good of a team again this season.

Good to see Zadina scoring some goals. I see that Simon 1st unit PP has 5 forwards. Better movement in tonight's game than last week games. Hope they can carry this momentum into tomorrow night's game in Chicago. Thanks Henkka for posting the game summary for tonight's game. Got home late after the game.

Highest potential for Smith 3rd line , but last year I was thinking he will never makes NHl.Madonna need some time to develop his physicality, he will be better
I wouldn’t say his ceiling is 3rd line. I think he is more of a utility player, someone who’d compliment two skill guys well.

I thought Smith showed promise and Pope looked good for his first game. The team overall did not look like the well-oiled teams of the past few years but with so many new players that is to be expected.

Yeah the score line was kinder than the performance during a lot of that game. Still plenty to work on for this team, but again we have to think getting two of the young d-man in Detroit back likely Hicketts and Sulak will be a big deal for this team.

I agree. I think if the offense comes aroound he could be something like what Bertuzzi is becoming now. Not a realy skilled player but can get put on a top 6 line and do the dirty work. I dont think its likely hes more than a third liner but I dont think its fair to say thats his ceiling either

Former draftee Brooks Macek torching us. What a great night all-round.

I like Pope though, always have. Think he's got something.

The video highlights on the Griffs site doesn't even include the Pope goal. I was hoping someone might have posted it here. AHL Live used to provide extended highlights (a lot more than just all of the goals) for most games for registered users even if you weren't a current subscriber but they changed it to AHLTV this year and it doesn't seem that they are providing highlights. The production quality for the game is improved though.

I'm excited to see how well Pope does this season. I feel as though he needs to have an unbelievable Rookie season to have a chance with the Wings, this may be his only year/chance he gets since he is already 24.

From what I have seen in training camp and preseason he hasn't shown much but he really wasn't afforded much opportunity either. He was a healthy scratch for the first 2 Griffs' games with Svechnikov out of the lineup and I was ready to write him off but he has scored a goal and an assist in his first 2 games with the Griffs and managed to stay on my radar.

Was sitting a few rows behind some nut who yelled at the refs for every call. He was more entertaining than the game lmao. He looked straight out of Far Cry 5.

Saarijarvi looked amazing out there, skating was silky smooth. He'a a good one.

Extremely early but I don’t rate the coach. Hope he proves me wrong but just listening to some of his stuff, sounds like a bit of an amateur.

I've got him over Hicketts and Sulak as a better prospect. His skating is so good, and not just his straight line speed. His lateral movement with the puck is great, and so is his escapability. He'll be a solid bottom 4 offensive defenseman for us. He's just got to work on his strength in his own zone.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Thursday signed defenseman Chris Carlisle to a professional tryout.

Carlisle, 23, has appeared in two games this year with the ECHL’s Manchester Monarchs. In 2017-18, the 5-foot-11, 178-pound blueliner posted 13 points (4-9—13) in 45 regular season contests with HC Bolzano in Austria’s top league, before contributing four points (1-3—4) in 18 postseason games and helping the club win the league championship.

A native of Fort Lee, N.J., Carlisle has skated in 139 career AHL games with Binghamton from 2015-17 and totaled 28 points (7-21—18) and 61 penalty minutes. He made his ECHL debut in 2015-16 with the Evansville Icemen, picking up two assists in two games.

Prior to turning pro, Carlisle recorded 90 points (17-73—90) in 226 games with the OHL’s Oshawa Generals from 2011-15. His four-year career with the club was capped in 2014-15 by notching a career-high 44 points (7-37—44) in 68 games and helping Oshawa claim the Memorial Cup.
