Not much. Rotating time with Givani Smith as the 4th line forward. Did not play the last couple of games.
I've been listening in on the radio and paying attention to the box scores for the Griffins, but I was wondering how have Zadina and Hronek looked this season?

I've been listening in on the radio and paying attention to the box scores for the Griffins, but I was wondering how have Zadina and Hronek looked this season?

Zadina started out slowly as he had a difficult time adjusting from the junior game until the pro game. Lot of things he could do in juniors, he found out the hard way that he could not get away with in the pro level. Once he got it figured it, you can see that this kid has talent and that he will make it into the NHL in the near future. He is starting to be much better as a forechecker and he is starting to read his teammates in the offensive end. Plus he is starting to figure out what he had to do to create chances and make plays for himself and his teammates. His shot is quick and he is slowly figuring that part of his game as well. Still needs work on the PP as to where he is on the ice and where his teammates as some of his passes are still ending up on the opponent's stick and it has costed the Griffins some shorthanded goals against. His confidence is coming out more and more in recent games.

Hronek struggled early since he got sent back down to Grand Rapids from the Red Wings. Wings wanted him to be a more complete d-man and not just another Mike Green type d-man. So the Wings told the Griffins to put Hronek on the PK unit to start getting him time there to develop his defensive side of his game. It took about 2-3 weeks of an adjustment and he struggled at first (so did the Griffins PK units as a whole). But Hronek has done great strides in improving that part of his game and once he overcame his struggles on defense, his offensive production has picked up in the last 2 weeks and he has become the scoring machine on defense for the Griffins. His confidence also has shown big time in the past 2 weeks. It is good to see that he can now be a complete d-man, instead of one that just scores and not defend. He is just a Red Wings d-man injury away from being called back up to Detroit.

Good stuff. Thanks for this! :thumbu:

Also - Zadina's agent Darren Ferris was on Craig Custance's podcast today and talked about Zadina a little bit. It was interesting, Ferris had a comment saying that going to World Juniors from the AHL is a step down, and that he wasn't sure if Filip will be going or not.

Gross. Same moron agent as AA. Expect a holdout going into 2022-23.

MEGAN RECALLED, SADOWY REASSIGNED

Posted Yesterday
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday recalled center Wade Megan from the Grand Rapids Griffins and reassigned forward Dylan Sadowy from the Griffins to the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye.

Megan, 28, has split his first season with the Red Wings organization between Grand Rapids and Detroit. In 14 games with the Griffins, he shows seven points (3-4—7), a plus-two rating and 14 penalty minutes. Skating in six contests with the Red Wings, Megan has recorded nine shots on goal and two PIM while averaging 7:59 of ice time.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound center became the 172nd Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL when he made his Red Wings debut on Nov. 1 vs. New Jersey.

Originally drafted by the Florida Panthers in the fifth round, 138th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Megan produced his first NHL goal in his debut with the St. Louis Blues on Dec. 22, 2016, at Tampa Bay. He’s totaled 10 career NHL games between the Blues (2016-18) and Red Wings.

Now in his sixth full pro season, Megan sports 160 points (81-79—160), a plus-30 rating and 238 PIM in 340 career AHL regular season games between San Antonio (2012-15), Portland (2015-16), Chicago (2016-18) and Grand Rapids. He was named to the AHL First All-Star Team and won the Willie Marshall Award after leading the league with 33 goals during his first season with Chicago in 2016-17.

Playing in his third pro season, Sadowy, 22, has appeared in six games with the Griffins and recorded two PIM. Originally drafted by San Jose in the third round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and acquired by Detroit in May 2016, Sadowy has tallied 57 career contests with Grand Rapids since 2016-17, posting six points (4-2—6) and 27 PIM.

In six games for the Walleye this season, Sadowy shows eight points (6-2—8), a plus-three rating and 17 PIM. A 6-foot-1, 210-pound winger, Sadowy has appeared in 51 career ECHL games since 2016-17 and shows 41 points (19-22—41) and 51 PIM. He added four points (3-1—4) in nine games during his Kelly Cup Playoff debut last season.

That turned out to be a bust of a trade... Sadowy for a 3rd round pick lol

It ended up being Mackenzie Entwistle, who has 24 points in 26 games for the OHL Hamilton Bulldogs. They both haven't played in the NHl, so it was a meh deal. :(

I don't even know what Hronek needs to do to earn a callup.
He started the season with the Wings and I am guessing he will probably be called up now with Dekeyser out. I think getting a lot of time in all situations with the Griffs has been beneficial for his development. I think this time he will probably stick and that could be a detriment for those with hopes for Hughes.

GRIFFINS SIGN DEREK HULAK TO PTO

Posted Today
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Wednesday signed forward Derek Hulak (HOO-lak) to a professional tryout.

Hulak, 29, has three points (2-1—3) in eight games with the Hershey Bears this season after sitting out all of 2017-18 due to injury. In his career, the 6-foot, 185-pound winger has skated in 167 career AHL games with Texas (2013-2016), Utica (2016-17) and Hershey, and tallied 94 points (45-49—94), a plus-22 rating and 46 penalty minutes. He has logged 10 career Calder Cup Playoff contests with Texas from 2014-16 and helped the Stars claim the 2014 Calder Cup.

A native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Hulak played four seasons with the University of Saskatchewan prior to joining the AHL. From 2010-14, he accumulated 123 points (34-89—123) in 87 games and was twice recognized as the league’s top scorer (2013-14 and 2011-12).

Hulak made his pro debut with the Tulsa Oilers of the CHL in 2010-11, posting 14 points (4-10—14) in 21 games. He played in the WHL from 2005-10 between Regina (2005-07) and Saskatoon (2006-10) and collected 242 points (95-147—242) in 267 games.

Rybar in net for Griffins tonight. Trevor Hamilton (D) called up from Toledo (ECHL) earlier today. Derek Hulak will be wearing #39. San Antonio comes back for more tonight. San Antonio players Chris Butler (D), Jordan Kyrou (C), & Jordan Nolan (LW) all called up to St. Louis this morning. Justin Taylor (C) added to Rampage roster as a PTO.
