He’s not average in his own end. And his offense is very inconsistent. It’s a bad contract. Every single team in the league could have taken it for free & passed. He’s had some good puck luck re: goals, but his assist stats are bad.
He is what he is - PP specialist, cringeworthy in his own end, overpaid.

That probably would be okay though if the rest of their corps was better.

Hasn't Hagg dominated over that same sample? So we should protect Hagg and Ghost and expose Sanheim and Myers?

Ghost has rebounded nicely the second half of this season, but realistically are you going to give him a big money extension at 29 years old given his injury history?

He's 39th in pp/60 since Lake Tahoe at 1.10, which is solid for an offensive defenseman, but not close to elite.
However, he's also 129th in xGF/60 during that stretch, well below the other Flyer defensemen.
But he's 5th in xGF/60 on the PP.
(Hagg is 35th, Myers is 42nd in xGF/60 during this same stretch).

Realistically, Ghost is somewhere between 2017-18 and 2018-19.
A marginal top four defensemen whose primary value is PP QB.

You are joking right? There is no GM in the league who would take Hagg over Ghost.

An offensive defenseman who is 6th in goals and PPG/60 and played fewer games than most.

And 67 th highest salary for defensemen.

If Ghost is overpaid then I'd love to hear opinions on Provorov's contract.

Paid more, plays worse, with better usage/teammates. You'd expect a #1D to outplay an overpaid PP specialist, wouldn't you? Interesting that I don't hear a peep about that one.

Gotta love how upset people are that Ghost wasn't bad this year. They wanted him to bomb so bad and instead he leads the D with the other "softy".

Provorov is going to need to get his head together over the summer in order to decide what he is able to do on the ice. Then figure out what he can’t do and quit trying to do those things.
He’s all over the place with his play. He’s trying to do everything and as a result does little well on a consistent basis. Looking at tonight’s game and comparing his play to York’s one would be hard pressed to say that Provorov was a better player. York played within his skill set. Provorov not so much.

Flyers are likely going to regret losing Ghost this off season..... its going to happen we all know it... This coach and management team don't value him and can't utilise him properly. York may be a good replacement but i'd prefer to see that happen after a half or full season in the AHL. If we didn't have Ghost i'd be ok rushing him up but i'd find it hard to believe that 2021/22 Cam York will produce like Ghost will next season.

Man... Like here I am again... You jerks are making it hard to hate the flyers when you hate them more than pens fans do... Agree this was a suspension offence AND you beat caps for us.... Quit it... Ok don't...

Tots think it wasn't a needed hit after the goal... My Lord my bum would be chapped as f if I was a Rangers fan lol

It's true that we currently hate our own team.

But just to confirm, we hate you so much more.

It would also certainly help if the organization stopped penciling him in as an unquestioned do-everything 25 minutes-a-night #1 D.

Mehhhh. 20 points in 40 games & very shaky defense aren’t worth a $4.5M cap hit for two more seasons. There’s a reason every team in the league passed him up for free.

I say that acknowledging he’s been better offensively lately & as someone who supports that he’s shown some spunk on a team that needs it.

The point production alone is worth that, and his defense has been solid.

Especially considering how often he has had to do the job of two dmen with Hagg on the ice.
