He’s not average in his own end. And his offense is very inconsistent. It’s a bad contract. Every single team in the league could have taken it for free & passed. He’s had some good puck luck re: goals, but his assist stats are bad.
Can you pls change your username. Fletcher Beer would be fine. Or Haag Beer or Heeg?
Maybe Deadheads 2nd account. All would be better suited.

20 pts in 40 games...so a 41 pt pace
9 goals...so 18 goal pace

Since Feb 24th
3rd in the league in goals
20th in the league in points
16th in ES goals
1st in PP goals
11th in PP points

It is pretty funny that we are likely exposing Ghost + 2 60+ point forwards while we protect Myers, Patrick and Lindblom

Hasn't Hagg dominated over that same sample? So we should protect Hagg and Ghost and expose Sanheim and Myers?

Ghost has rebounded nicely the second half of this season, but realistically are you going to give him a big money extension at 29 years old given his injury history?

He's 39th in pp/60 since Lake Tahoe at 1.10, which is solid for an offensive defenseman, but not close to elite.
However, he's also 129th in xGF/60 during that stretch, well below the other Flyer defensemen.
But he's 5th in xGF/60 on the PP.
(Hagg is 35th, Myers is 42nd in xGF/60 during this same stretch).

Realistically, Ghost is somewhere between 2017-18 and 2018-19.
A marginal top four defensemen whose primary value is PP QB.

It's not that hard to figure out though.

Age + Potential + Salary + Extenuating circumstances all factor into protecting the three of them and exposing the other three.

Also, don't be so sure Patrick is going to be protected. I have a feeling he is going to be traded.

For anything to work there must be clear lines drawn and consistent enforcement of those lines.

Consistency is everything. The NHL doesn’t understand that.
They'll learn to understand it when a player sues who has his career ended by this type of goonery which goes punished on an inconsistent basis. Its only a matter of time until Wilson or some other wannabe damages a player. Even football has learned that head shoots and other forms of unnecessary roughness need to be contained for liability reasons. Why Bettman's circus run by clowns doesn't get this is beyond me. The NHL was lucky with the Bertuzzi-Moore incident. The next time they will not be so fortunate. Its a different era now regarding violence in sport.
