Trading is often a byproduct of good scouting.
As is winning, which we did a lot of from 2005-2017.
I've said every point I've had to make on the whole "drafting stars" argument. Nothing new to add there.
Ultimately at the end of the day I care about winning. I'd rather have Laf and Kakko scoring 70-80 points on a balanced team that can send wave after wave against teams, rather than have them score 90-100 points and have a weaker team.
For the first time in a very, very long time, we have a chance to combine elite, top-end talent with valuable support talent. We've had the highest picks in modern franchise history and we've a string of multi-pick drafts.
For better or worse, the measure for 2017-2020 will be different than any other span in team history.
