Has someone proven it? ESPN just used the video and blew it up and you can see the marks.

Suarez, himself, makes it clear that he bit him. He was holding his fangs like the Italian player initiated contact with his teeth. But it was clear that Suarez swung his head towards Chiarelli. Proof is there, there is no question that he bit him. You don't get a mark like that on your shoulder from someone's nose, lol.

Its embarrassing. Suarez should be suspended for the remainder of the tournament. If not, it only makes this diving/biting sport, look that much better.

A lot of people seem to not like the Italians. Beginning to wonder where this is coming from.

All you had to to was watch the first half to figure out why no one likes Italy. They are so careless and lazy. If things don't go their way they just give up (Costa Rica game). They needed at least a draw... so starting at first kick, they were diving, time wasting, and being babies.

Off the first half alone, Italy deserved to lose.

The Marchisio red card, Suarez bite (with no call), and immediate Uruguay goal is where Italy got screwed. They probably could have avoided this by actually playing in the first half...

I don't know if I am buying calling the red card a screw job. He was over the ball, and that's a kick that breaks legs. On top of the fact the Italians were already being rather careless in challenges (Balotelli knee to the head in the 1st half).

It should of been evened out with the Suarez bite, but it didn't seem the ref saw it (and showing marks after the fact isn't going to get a foul called). FIFA should suspend him after the fact though (which would doom Uruguay)

I think that's a lot to draw from so few games. Plus, do they not have the second most world cups? A lot of these teams go into a diving/defensive shell. These teams do what they need to win or move on. The US will definitely go into a defensive shell if it's tied late against Germany. But the US is one of the few teams that doesn't get too involved in the silly shenanigans of diving, but I think it also hurts them. Wasting time and diving is very much a part of this sport unfortunately.

1 official running around the field, with two offside officials is simply not enough. I don't understand why Fifa thinks it's ok.

So Marchisio, who has never had a red card in his entire career decided to attempt to shatter someone's shin in possibly the most important game of his life?

Still a reckless as hell play. Maybe a yellow would of been a bit more fair, but then Balotelli should of gotten a red in the first half because that was beyond reckless.

That play looks very ugly. It could definitely be called a red in MLS

Worse doesn't get called every week. Rarely are there reds in MLS unless there's a lot more force than that. Look at all the times someone blatantly hurt Cahill, and only Watson got a red. Most of the people that have taken Cahill out haven't even been carded.

I am pretty sure the rate of red cards is actually higher in MLS than in most leagues. At least it is so far this season. A lot does go uncalled, sure, but that can certainly be called a red in MLS, as it should be

Yea, red cards have definitely been up this year. The league has been pushing it to protect all the big name players that have been coming over recently but they still need to work on consistency

Outside of Colombia, this group is a steaming pile of garbage. Its really a shame that one of Japan, Greece, or the Ivory Coast gets to advance but two of Germany, USA, Ghana, and Portugal don't.

lol Greece may make the second round scoring one goal in three games.

As someone with a Greek father and Mother, I'd be thrilled to see this.

I think I heard it would be the first time ever(?) that they've made it to the Round of 16? Is that really true?

If soccer is trying to become popular in the US, they shouldn't be allowed to televise Greece matches.

So Greece are the NJ Devils now? "Boring" Chants? :sarcasm:

If the Ivory Coast can't at least tie Greece I don't want to hear about them ever again, two straight World Cups they were victimized by tough draws well now they finally get a decent one and they're still going splat.

They only SCORED in one World Cup game before today lol...a meaningless 2-1 win over Nigeria in 2010. But yeah it would be their first time in the knockout round.
