Another hot team coming into the Rog.....the Wild are coming off a 5-2 thumping of the Flames and are in the midst of their best stretch of the season.

Canucks need a dramatic improvement in the first periods on home ice. And they've got to get more out of Demko and Pettersson.

Come on now bois.
Time to pick it up, you guys are better than what we've seen the last couple of weeks.

Also, stop overplaying Myers FFS
Are they though?

Or is this what we actually are and the unsustainable goaltending and scoring are finally coming back to earth

Fight Fire with Fire

Why don't we own these beautiful things?

If you have one of these, please wear it to the game.

Scoring is definitely not an issue.
Can’t say the same about defence though.

Scoring is definitely an issue vs good teams.

Since the start of Nov we've played 4 good teams (NYR, DAL, COL, VGK) and we've averaged exactly 2 goals over those games.

With Kuzmenko, Pettersson and Mikheyev all not on top of their games and PDG falling off completly, our top-6 looks super weak right now.

Petey regaining his form will magically fix a lot of problems but him going through elongated stretches of piss poor play is something we may need to expect on the regular going forward.

We are scoring goals right now even with our top 6 being non-exsistent (except JT Miller, love the guy)
When they regain form we'll be even better, dont worry too much about it.

Scoring is very low on the list of problems,
Its our defence that requires major aid.
Im convinced they will be significantly better if we can improve our backend.

Scoring is seemingly more difficult with kuz in the bottom six, or press box.

Also preventing scoring seems to be more difficult with myers and or juulsen on the ice, but what do I know im not an nhl head coach!

Wild can score in bunches too so hopefully we can more than they can tomorrow.

We need to put Petey between Miller and Boeser. Play them 25 minutes with Quinn and Hronek and let the rest hang on for dear life. Start DeSmith in net after giving him the "Grant Fuhr" dosage of coke and burn out 1980's Oilers style with an 8 to 5 win.

edit...we will also our version of Tikkonen, I vote Hoggy Bare.

I don’t think the sample size is big enough to make too many conclusions about competition quality and I thought they generated enough chances against all but Vegas, but 5v5 scoring has been a very all or nothing thing for this team for a number of years. I don’t think it’s really the opposing teams as much as the Canucks running hot and cold. They need to find more consistency, but part of that should be on the defensive end so they don’t need to score as much

Perhaps I prematurely upgraded this team from "bubble-level" to "good". They are what they are. An average-mediocre team. So is Minnesota, so this certainly will be no easy game given their form right now.

It looks like they have gotten away how they were playing in their own end earlier in the season. They need the practice time to fine tune things and iron out some bugs.

This is to be expected in team that's still learning how to play the right way on a consistent basis. There's going to be some unevenness in their performance all season.

I always dread games against Minny. There was a ridiculously stupid stretch during the 2000s where Rolston was terrorizing this franchise at every chance he got...

It seems like everyone is overreacting to the last 10 games. Everyone knew and said we wouldn’t maintain the crazy winning percentage we started with and yet now when we play .500 hockey for 10 games people start freaking out? I don’t understand that. Every team in the league will have at least one stretch of .500 hockey (or worse) over a 10 game stretch. If this is the team playing bad then we’ll be just fine.

That being said the defence is still a work in progress. Guys like Myers and Juulsen are still a big problem. We lose a goal every couple games from them alone so that needs to be addressed if we want to be a serious contending team.

No idea what we're going to get tonight..probably more of the on again-off again.

Canucks have to take advantage of the Central division teams this season..All the teams are beatable imo..With the parity in the league (now, more than ever), you've got to be ready to play (not like the NJD game, the other night).

While we were winning most of the games earlier in the season, Tocchet was telling the media that there would be adversity in the season..Here we are, spinning our wheels in the mud since Nov 20th.

You just have to play Kuzy beside Petey and iron out the kinks. He’s just going to get benched then scratched in a bottom 6 role.

the only thing that really changed are the outrageous favourable percentages and Demko played a stinker.

Tocchet has to lay off this only way to play hockey and look at players strengths and weaknesses more.
Kuzmenko just has been thrown under the bus twice now. Why?
Kuz was never signed as a grinder.
Kuz was not the only player on the line, Brock did crap as far as forechecking, too slow to get there but he gets a pass because he is hot right now.

This forechecking fixation has Pettersson and Miller being late on the back check.

The team is starting to play the way they did under Green.

Has nobody seen WHY, when Bruce was hired and then Tocchet later, the team exploded and played the best they ever had. They played relaxed, the pressure was off. Tocchet is turning the wheel on the vice.

The beginning of the season gave them a safety cushion for a playoff spot which they should make now.

Once the game was out of hand he unleashed them.
But why did Tocchet put those guys on the ice in the last minute?
Hronek and Cole were having a horrible game.

Tocchet better be more flexible with his criticism.

Minny is a smaller team playing hot with the late arriving player scoring.

Win one, Lose one this should be a win one.
But even if they lose 2 in a row they can win tow in a row.

Canucks win in OT

Kuz will pot a couple because he doesn't have to be THE forechecker, he can play more like Boeser being the late guy
