The Washington Capitals have acquired Goaltender Tomas Vokoun and Winger Michael Ryder from the Florida Panthers. Heading back to Florida are forward Eric Fehr, rookie Mathieu Perreault, prospect Cody Eakin and the capitals 1st round pick in 2011 and 2nd in 2012. GM Barbadian91 had this to say regarding the trade: "We are very excited about this move. Acquiring Tomas and Michael will be very important for us to make a cup run. When Tampa acquired Dwayne Roloson from the Islanders it became apparent that we needed to improve our goaltending situation. Acquiring Tomas gives one of the best goaltenders in the NHL who also bring a veteran presence to the team. Michael adds another veteran player to our team who has an amazing shot and will give us some extera secondary scoring. We gave up alot of future in this deal but we didnt see any room for them on our roster in the next few years. We would like to wish them best in Florida." ​

Florida confirms. There are no doubts Vokoun was the best option for a contender going down the stretch and the price coming back showed that. We hope Fehr and Perreault can step into our lineup and assume top 9 minutes next year

In other news, Florida is shopping

Gudbrandson, Boston's 1st, Wash's 1st, Boston's 1st, Wash's 2nd 2012 and our 2nd 2011 for a high end first line winger. Also prospects like Shore, Eakin, Salak, Dandonov, MacFarland could be had as well

Predators Acquire Havlat, Dump Dumont

Nashville, TN The Nashville Predators have acquired their second skilled injury-prone winger of the deadline, bringing in All Star forward Martin Havlat from the rebuilding Minnesota Wild. Headed to St. Paul are forwards JP Dumont and Sergei Kostitsyn, prospect Austin Watson, and Nashville's 1st round pick in the 2011 entry draft. Nashville acquired Minnesota's 7th round pick this summer as part of the deal. "We may have overpaid," said Preds GM IR4. "But I'm used to doing that, and we get a guy who is not far off of a PPG pace when healthy. We also get rid of JP Dumont, who elected to waive his NMC as he recognized his future simply couldn't involve the Nashville Predators."

Have received interest in Andrej Sekera and could be moved today. Looking to move 1 or 2 of Sekera, Butler and Rivet. if Sekera goes, Butler stays and vice versa. Will likely move Rivet very cheap, same with Lalime or Neidermayer

Grier and Stafford also on the block as well

And to the teams who have inquired about Ryan Miller, hes 99% likely not moving unless im completely blown away by an offer.
