Columbus destroys this trade IMO.

I made the trade and I don't think I did that well in it. I was hesitant to trade Hejda because he was Columbus's best defenceman before I signed Kubina, but I had to make the deal to improve my offense.

Good deal for both sided, in my opinion. Washington needed defence, and Columbus needed offense.

The trade was just not realistic for Washington considering that they had acquired Byfuglien earlier in the offseason.

Greatly improved. I have serious doubts Schroeder is NHL ready, but that trade was a smart move for your depth.

Have signed UFA Jere Lehtinen, reuniting the Finnish winger with Coach Dave Tippett. If Lehtinen can stay healthy, we expect he'll return to contributing 40-plus points on offense while remaining one of the best defensive forwards in the game.

The deal is for year and $1.5M, with a NTC.

Lehtinen is expected to play the right wing on the 4th line centered by Eric Belanger. Dan Winnik and Lauri Korpikoski will be fighting for the left wing spot on that line.

With the Lehtinen signing the Coyotes are ready for training camp. If the season started today we'd line up like this:

Wolski -- Lombardi -- Doan
Upshall -- Hanzal -- Sharp
Stemniak -- Fiddler -- Vrbata
Winnik -- Belanger -- Lehtinen
EXTRAS: Korpikoski, Prucha

Jovanovski -- Morris
Aucoin -- Yandle
Goncharov -- Lepisto
EXTRA: Schlemko

Yeah, I'm a little worried that Schroeder isn't NHL ready, but he's got 6 points in 4 AHL games right now, and he'd only have to handle 3rd line minutes, so I'm optimistic that he could do it.

He'd really have to bulk up this offseason. I'd project he is Top 6 AHL next season with a bit of call up time (likely to be given first to Hodgson/Grabner/Shirokov, whoever doesn't make the main roster). But, with Byfuglien's 250 pounds, he kind of makes up for it.

Detroit gets gritty; adds Grier, Boogaard

The Detroit Red Wings have continued with their free agent bonanza, adding a pair of gritty forwards in the form of Mike Grier to a two year, 2.6M$ contract, and scrappy heavyweight Derek Boogaard to a two year, 1.6M$ contract.

"Mike Grier is a born leader, and a gritty defensive presence that is going to add a sound voice to the locker room, and sand paper on the ice. We feel by adding him we have really helped shore up our defensive game as our third line right wing. Derek Boogaard may not have the offensive tools, but everyone knows what kind of skillset he brings to a team. While we certainly do not want him to instigating unnecessary fights, we believe the psychological effects of his presence will pay dividends." Wings GM TribalPhoenix was quote as stating in a press conference this morning.

Fixed it for you.

That was likely the problem.

But to be honest, I'm a little tired to eat poutine. I went all around the province to find the best poutine ever but I'm still undecided.

I guess I should do a "poutine roadtrip" this summer to have a definitive answer on the question.

EDIT : I'll do it in April considering that I will have some free time!

I'm not sure we really have a topic at this point, though, so I'll leave it.

Blues Ink Jared Boll For Two Years ; 965K Per
bolls2.jpg

Boll will add some grit and toughness to Blues fourth line.

The Blues have signed UFA forward Jared Boll to a two year, $1.912 contract. He'll get paid, .965K per year on this contract and will be a nice addition to the Blues fourth line.

The Blues are looking to move Cam Janssen. Going for cheap.
