Panthers add veteran leadership

To Florida
Chris Drury
2012 2nd round draft pick

To New York

2012 5th round draft pick

"We felt we were in the right position to make a trade like this. We moved up 3 rounds in the draft, and acquired a good player in Chris Drury. Obviously his contract is a bad one, but we need to reach the Cap floor and it's an expiring contract. Drury will be named our team captain, and is expected to center our 2nd line. He does all the little things that we want to teach our young players."

:leafs finish their offseason moves and are looking forward to an exciting 2011-2012 season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs came into the offseason after an ugly 2010-2011 season to improve this roster, we are pleased with the work done in the offseason and feel this team is better. With the moves we have done we feel that we are ready to challenge for a playoff spot in the upcoming season.

We made a substantial move at the deadline bringing in an elite defensemen in Brent Burns for a replacement for Tomas Kaberle. We feel this move was needed and we feel we have added a better defensemen in Burns. We then shipped off Kaberle and Macarthur in the offseason for a move to bolster the future of this club adding two very good prospects in Grachev and Werek and also adding a 2011 2nd and a solid defensemen in Matt Gilroy. We feel Matt and Luke Schenn will grow together to form a great pairing for us in the future. We then shipped off that 2nd round pick and we added a solid gritty forward in Eric Nystrom to add to the depth of our team. We also got James Sheppard who we feel has all the tools to become a solid 3rd/4th liner on our team for the future.

Going into free agency we felt we needed to add a legitimate top 6 forward and we did just that. We added a 30 goal scorer in Matt Moulson who is still young and will flourish playing alongside sniper Phil Kessel. We now feel we have a legitimate top line that can produce. To boot we added a nice forward in Tim Connolly who will play on our third line adding a playmaking and a scoring threat to that line. We feel we now have 3 solid lines who can put the puck in the net. We are very happy with these two aquisitions.

In the draft we added a very nice prospect former #1 overall pick in the OHL draft in Daniel Catenacci, we feel that in the near future he will form into a 2nd line centre.

Nazem Kadri will start in the AHL once again and we will call him up during the season and hope he produces and he can solidify a spot on this deep roster. He will be our first call up barring any injuries.

Florida Panthers are looking to trade Mike Weaver or Dennis Wideman for a 3rd line winger...Weaver makes less then $1 million dollars and would be a cheap, reliable defenceman. We can take on some salary if you need that.

PM me with offers!

Senators Offseason Review

The Ottawa Senators capped off a forgettable 2010-2011 season on a high note, pleased with their work done in the offseason. The team underwent a pretty substantial re-tooling, but with the moves made the club now feels that they are ready to challenge for a playoff spot in the upcoming season.

It became pretty evident that the current core would not suffice for future success, so the club shipped out: Mike Fisher, Nick Foligno, Patrick Wiercioch, Filip Kuba, Milan Michalek, Jarkko Ruutu, Chris Campoli, Peter Regin, Matt Carkner, Brian Lee and Roman Wick. Brought in was a combined new nucleus of youth and experience, with Corey Perry, Jarret Stoll, T.J. Galiardi, Carter Ashton, Zenon Konopka, Jared Cowen, David Rundblad, Matt Greene, Davis Drewiske and Evgeni Nabokov all representing a culture change in Ottawa. Those additions, combined with a strong draft (Strome, Bartschi and Jensen) have given Senators faithful a renewed sense of hope.

*Doesn't include Markov cap number for the time being

Very happy with the look of our team on paper. Added some size and grit without losing speed or skill witch is still the key to succes in the NHL.

Our offence is deeper, we hope that Eller will step up his game and make a 3rd unit dangerous offensivly. Really like our 4th line, this line won't be over their head in any match up so we'll be a team capable of running 4 lines, also key in the NHL for long term succes.

On defence, Markov won't be back at the begining, it hurts but we'll manage. It adds to the importance of adding Ed Jovanovski. Getting a little old but still a top defenceman, capable of playing #1 minutes. Subban could again have a up and down season with the sophomore jix, but we have enough depth and overall quality players to overcome those issues.

Defence with healthy Markov:

Markov - Jovanovski
Tyutin - Subban
Allen - Gorges
Weber

One of the best defence quality and depht wise in the NHL. Of course by the time Markov comes back, other guys might be injured but that's out of our control...

In nets, well Carey Price will hopefully continue his great work and give us the best of chance to win most games and be more ready to be a #1 with added experience. Conklin, great back up, one of the best in the league so he'll be able to take some work load off Carey a bit more than Auld could.
