The San Jose Sharks are proud to announce the signings of defensemen Kevin Shattenkirk and Jared Cowen. Shattenkirk has been signed to a 7-year, $49M contract ($7M/year) with a full NMC. Cowen has been signed to a 1-year, $800k contract.

"We're thrilled to add both these guys to our roster," GM SLAPSHOT723 said. "Shattenkirk has proved to be a top offensive defenseman in this league. We believe he fits our style perfectly, and envision him playing with Vlasic regularly. His puck moving skills are something we haven't had since Dan Boyle, and we've really needed that dimension back. Cowen signed sort of a 'show-me' contract to turn his career back on track after a couple of off years. We liked him his draft year and would like to see how he performs as our 7th defenseman."
