What is the tiebreaker procedure for the NHL playoffs?

If two or more teams are tied in points at the end of the regular season, here are the tiebreakers:

  1. Regulation wins
  2. Regulation and overtime wins
  3. Total wins
  4. Most points earned in head-to-head competition. If teams had an uneven number of meetings, the first game played in the city that has the extra game is excluded.
  5. Goal differential
  6. Total goals.

The Sabres either come out on fire with the frustration of missing the playoffs for the 13th straight year, or they will come out completely flat.

Hopefully it’s the latter.

If anyone needed another reason to root against the Penguins

Caps had so much problems with the Sabres last time. They can't get caught playing a fast game and attacking with the Sabres. They have to find ways to slow down the game and score more than just 2 goals! Sabres don't play good team defense, but they can kill you with their offensive weapons and their goaltending. Last time the Caps scored first, but then the Sabres scored next 3. Caps were chasing the game too much from that point till the end. We need to have more than 23 shots than we did in the game against the Wings.

Sabres final home game.

That usually means there is extra effort from them. Hoping they used all their goal-scoring last time around.

I'm curious as to which game plans don't involve scoring when you get A+ chances.

If you'd taken note of the context instead of looking for something to isolate and nitpick as usual, you might have noted this was tacked on to the end of a generally defensive gameplan, which implies not stretching offensively or being overly aggressive and prone to counterattack. That means you sit back and play defense while trying to capitalize only when the really good chances finally come around.

Now tell us how you would've said it better so we all can feel small and stupid compared to you. If anyone quotes this so you can read it.

🔑 #1: Feed Charlie Lindgren the puck early and often

🔑 #2: Deflect pucks over the safety netting to scare opposing fans away

🔑 #3: Eschew teamwork and instead make dazzling individual plays

I’ll quote it because I think it’s a very good response. We don’t need to be so hostile towards each other. After all, we’re a community of Caps fans and we all want the same thing.
