Was only able to listen to parts of the game but not.really gonna even get into that pathetic embarrassing disaster. One thing though I'm.sorta sick of hearing Pete suck Marty's balls and basically claim.how great he was after every loss. Gimme a break with that ********.

None of this is on Marty, though.

He had a few questionable moments in the Islander game... but it's worth nothing that Marty's one of the few players on the ice ready to go from puck drop every game.

Marty was the only Devil not half asleep the first ten, if not for him game would be over very quickly.

Pathetic effort today. A total no show this afternoon. At least we battled back against the Habs and Isles when we went down. Today they did a lot of the same things defensively they did in 2 of the last 3 games before today, No offensive pressure whatsoever. I felt like getting a head start on my shopping today by the time it was 4-1. Before I got the motivation to get off the couch it was 5-1. I've been defending Kovy, but not this game. He was invisible in the offensive zone, and was really bad in our end, Can't single him out. Just a poor effort all around.

Team looked better on the PK than they did at even strength.

I don't know how you can blame Marty here. He wasn't good last game, but today he kept us in it the first 2. I don't think he had any chance of any of those goals. 5th one looked like a softy at first, but it went off Josefson's stick. If you think Marty played bad today then you are just looking at the score sheet.

You said you only listened to part of the game though so that answers that question.

Marty did as much as he possibly could tonight. Everyone in front of him played pretty flat other than CBGB.

Agreed, and there wasn't anything going on as far as offense anyway even if the game was kept close.

One thing that's been bugging me. Why do Bernier and Josefson get PP time? I thought this was something until Henrique got back,

Was thinking for myself before the 3-1 goal that Tallinder was playing pretty well. Then what does he dO? Fails to clear the zone 2 times before the icing and then wiffs on the puck just before the goal against, huge WTF moment right there.

Alright, where is a decent video of Marty's stick save? That cannot go overlooked just because we lost.

Parise didn't cost us Poni. Whoever says that is spewing a load of garbage.

No GM in the entire league sits idle waiting for ONE player to make a decision. Was Parise the most important priority this offseason? Absolutely. But you do not wait for him to decide whether or not you want to sign a 2 mil dollar role player.

Poni signed on July 1st very quickly to a bargain contract. He had a destination in mind when the season ended.

So I guess I'm spewing a load of garbage then 'cause that's what I believe. oh well... :dunno:

Anyway, something must be done to either add more talent and/or fix the team to the point where it's not embarassing itself on the ice..... :help:

I guess they need 'some' forward to take Kovy's place given they really only have five top six forwards to play up front with Kovy at the point. Bernier being out there really hurt us on that first shift of the second when they had to put Barch with Carter and Gionta against Crosby. Maybe that's where Butler can slot in.

Men against boys. Let's face it. The current roster stinks.
Horrific hockey today, a disgrace on every aspect of the game.
Shameful and embarrassing.

Things Deboer has done that are mindblowing to me:

1) Kovy playing half the game, including wasted time with scrubs

2) How Tedenby was handled. Josefson has even gotten a chance on the PP...but Tedenby never did. 8 mniutes per game, not a fair shot. Also, Josefson being selected for the shootout ahead of Zubs is almost worth its own number.

3) Salvador - Volchenkov pairing. The two worst puck handlers and the slowest two dmen on the same line?

4) Kovalchuk on the point still for entire powerplay. We have a lack of forward depth. We have 3 dmen capable of manning the point: Larsson, Zidlicky, Greene (even Harrold). Heck, at least switch it around some times and roll Kovy in a conventional wing position to keep teams on their toes.

5) Naming Salvador captain. Yup, that's right. I didn't like the choice, and I don't like it down. He has been awful. Turnover after turnover. I expect cone-like play and errant passes from Zidlicky, not you Bryce. I like Sal, but going into the season I thought he was the best option to try to package to a team that needed defense. The C killed that. I want a captain that will lead with their play and he certainly has not been doing that. In Deboer's defense he didn't have many options though.

For me, seeing Kovy at the right point on the PP is infuriating. Especially since the PP sucks atm and the coaches aren't even trying to mix things up and put him back at left point/left circle...

just put the puck in his wheel house and let it rip. Right now our most lethal weapon on the PP is doing **** all.

Kovy is going through the motions. I predict a long losing streak. Until Lou completes the roster its going to be ugly and frustrating.

1) Agreed 1000%

2) Why does everything have to be about Tedenby? You think they haven't seen him in AHL games too? No, Josefson shouldn't be on the power play but with Kovy on the point they only have five real top six forwards that should be out on the power play. And Josefson ahead of Zubrus in the shootout...neither one is any good in terms of breakaways (and both missed anyway). At that point it's basically picking names out of a hat.

3) Agreed

4) I don't really disagree but Kovy's going to play the point the entire power play, that's the way it is. Larsson and Greene can play the point on the power play but that doesn't mean they're above average at it, are they really a shooting threat? Harrold's the second-best pointman but he'll rarely be in the lineup. If Kovy is going to be at the point for two minutes though he should at least be at his shooting point SOME of the time.

5) First of all, Sal didn't play during the lockout. He probably needed the long rest after playing 106 games last year but still, you have to expect some rustiness. Not everyone can roll out of bed and dominate like Marty. And they were not going to re-sign him to trade him weeks later, Lou isn't Paul Holmgren. In fact it wouldn't shock me if him being captain was a primary reason they re-signed him. Elias didn't want the C, the only other candidate was Kovy - who can run a bit hot and cold and probably wasn't ideal for the job.

Not happy about anything with this roster. Lou has let us down. We are not a good hockey club.

Folks need to get a grip. This is the same roster that went to the finals minus 2 forwards (one of whom was a role player).

That being said, the loss of Parise may wind up hurting even more than anticipated.

My god you are a whinging little *****.

Seriously.

The problem with our roster is depth, yet the limited depth we have is actually playing well. I thought the CBGB line would be in over its head as a 3rd line but it has been our best line this season. Even the revolving door of 4th liners have had cycles.

The problem is top 6 inconsistency. There is NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING, you can do to the roster to fix that. Elias, Zubrus, Zajac, Kovy, Clarkson and Henrique are practically cemented as the top 6 this season. If they produce consistently, the team will improve. The haven't yet, and yet we still have a decent record.

The roster will be improved at some point like it is EVERY. SINGLE. SEASON. But I understand patience rarely exists on HF.
