Yup, albatross contracts for a long time. Dammit I'm 53 years old. Those contracts will be over when I'm 60 for crying out loud. The worst part is you could normally just be like "oh well, get a good draft pick and make a few trades for next year"..... not with those Kadri and Huberdeau contracts.
I honestly can't see Lindholm wanting to stay here. He went from the top line of hockey to whatever this is.
I hadn't been able to watch much Flames hockey lately with the early starts, so I didn't expect much but was really impressed with how the Flames played tonight.
But man, the top end just isn't there right now and it is killing us. Rasmus being out hurts, but this team absolutely needs its top offensive players to be dangerous at 5-on-5 and especially on the PP, but right now there doesn't seem to be any way they know how to do that.
Savard was supposed to come in and design something, but I don't see a plan out there.
I do think the PP is the key, though. If the Flames can figure out something there, I think it could get some mojo going.
sutter is not an idiotCan't expect much when there's not much to work with. We don't have a Barkov for Huberdeau to hide behind or Bennett/Duclair types to help him out. Kadri doesn't have a MacKinnon to take the harder matchups or Rantanen/Makar to help out on even strength and the powerplay. There is no chemistry with our players and they lack high end skill. It's why Sutter pushed them so hard, he was trying to squeeze blood from a stone and they couldn't handle it.
sutter is not an idiot
He knew the only way for them to have success but they are just not made for his ways.
There isn’t really a solution for this team
Defense is erratic
Goaltending is leaky
The forwards are lacking drive and most importantly skills
That's the unfortunate thing. The guy just doesn't mesh well with our players. Now maybe that turns around, but he's not at all trending well. The team is bad. Enough said. That huberdeau contract might become an all time worst in league history. Absolutely useless player with this roster.
I'm sorry, you don't think Calgary has players at the level of Bennett or Duclair? Can't expect much when there's not much to work with. Except he hasn’t shown up yet. Supposed to be a #1 center and a leader. Not seeing it. Definitely not dynamic enough to make 9M+. Thing is I think he’s better at RW1 for us than 1C. Because he’s a classic 2C on a Cup contender. Should be playing behind a guy like Mackinnon not trying to be a first line center because he’s not. Obviously Gaudreau and Tkachuk inflated his value. If his ego could handle it the team would be better off going Huby-Kadri-Lindholm as the first line. But he wants to be a center.I honestly can't see Lindholm wanting to stay here. A diabetes drug that's now been approved for weight loss?Maybe the boys need some Ozempic.
I mean the Flames could literally could tank the rest of the season, and Montreal can't touch this year's first. A generational talent at centre would certainly help things. The worst part is you could normally just be like "oh well, get a good draft pick and make a few trades for next year"..... not with those Kadri and Huberdeau contracts.
Sneak into the top 5-6 of the draft again and snag a Matthew Tkachuk and get out. Would be gud.I mean the Flames could literally could tank the rest of the season, and Montreal can't touch this year's first. A generational talent at centre would certainly help things.
They would of course lose the lottery, pick 4th, and select some 6'8" winger from the WHL.
I think it was last season Ozempic commercials were a staple on Flames broadcast. Every time they took a commercial break you'd see an Ozempic commercial. That's when they didn't say what Ozempic was for. Kind of became a little joke in game day threads when the Flames were struggling or trailing. Someone would usually say, the boys need some Ozempic.A diabetes drug that's now been approved for weight loss?
You never looked for the answer for "what's Ozempic" huh.
He is a good center if you can find an elite winger to carry him. Doesn’t look like Huberdeau is the right fit and the Flames don’t have another elite wingerExcept he hasn’t shown up yet. They may but do you see one that fit with Huberdeau? Have we tried Hunt yet?I'm sorry, you don't think Calgary has players at the level of Bennett or Duclair?
This would be like saying Detroit never got the most out of Hudler because they never had a Josh Jooris.
