We had 13 shots total in the 2nd and 3rd period. Outscored 4-0 since the 15 minute mark and outshot 22-15 in that span. It didn't look like we were able to generate dangerous scoring chances once we lost the lead.

now why was that? Who is to blame most there?

You can justify that game in October, November, December, January and maybe even February... middle March, that was was a horseshit performance.

Don't you know that you are clearly outplaying a team when you go shotless for 9 minutes to start a period?

I don’t think the devils played a really bad game, but just because Tampa didn’t have a shot for 9 minutes does not mean they played badly either.

The devils once again gave up too many odd man rushes. Against a good team who knows how to convert those chances into goals on an average goaltender like we have, we are gonna lose a lot of those games, no matter how well the devils play in other aspects of the game. This is the thing some of you guys don’t seem to get.

Someone in the thread earlier claimed that every team gives up odd man rushes every game. Yeah every team gives up at least 1-2 every game. The devils seemingly gift them to the opposition 3-4 times before the first half of the game is even over. This isn’t something every team does, that’s simply untrue. How many odd man rushes did the devils have against Carolina and Tampa these last two games? I think it’s literally like 2.

Depends, I'm assuming Schmid gets the start Thursday anyway, they aren't starting Vitek three in five after a poor game - especially if fatigue is an issue. I doubt they wanted to put Schmid in relief when they were already down three if they are going to play him Thursday and Saturday, or even Thursday and Sunday. You have to manage both guys' workloads at this point.

I wonder if you put palat back in the bumper on PP1. Then Bratt goes back to the off-circle. And Meier goes to PP2 at the circle. Doubt it happens, but that might be the move I make. First unit is better with Bratt over there IMO and Meier isn’t a great bumper fit IMO.

I don't think they were totally out of it until the Killorn goal tbh, they had some pretty good chances after Hagel scored. Kucherov goal completely killed them

The called back goal after 2 posts deflated them and then the SHG absolutely caved their energy. It was pretty obvious compared to how they played the first 10.

Then their collective soul exited the arena after 3 goals. The 3rd was just meh trying to not make any more mistakes more than anything to prove they can play good enough for next game.
