Tkachuk should get 5 and a game, clear 3rd man in. I'm a bit Stecher fan but that was a dumb penalty.

And not a single penalty on Tkachuk. That's firable officiating.

This rule also applies to subsequent players who elect to intervene in the same or other altercations during the same stoppage of play. Generally, this rule is applied when a fight occurs.

It would be extremely rare to see a 3rd man penalty called where no one gets a fighting penalty. The whole thing was a nothingburger except the cross checks.

I did...doesn't matter that no one got a fighting penalty. They dropped their gloves and were in an altercation. If the officials don't want to call it a fight...typically they will throw a roughing or something on the 3rd player to acknowledge...that hey you shouldn't do that.
