Yeah, it may be patting myself on the back a bit in saying this, but that is why I've been saying Scrivens has some serious upside ever since we got him. He's calm under pressure, can come up with some big saves and doesn't get rattled easy. I don't know if he'll ever be an NHL starter, but he has all the makings of a Dwayne Roloson.

A shutout by the back-up and two goals by the 4th line? Hard to find much to complain about there. Great win by the boys today

The "fans" of the Panthers should be embarrassed. The Dolphins were not playing this week and that place wasn't half full, just a joke.

If I was going to single out somebody as a negative for the Kings, it's Frattin. I have never seen someone be so invisible

As I was saying in the GDT:

First regulation win, Scrivens with the shutout, bottom six scoring, and all 5-on-5 goals :handclap:

Good stuff. Carcillo has been great and surprisingly quite disciplined. He always seems like he's on the cusp of doing something monumentally stupid though

I like it. Keeps other teams from provoking him into doing something to one of their good players. Frankly, we need that and it would be nice if such an attribute developed in Clifford and Nolan because he's around.

Extend Scrivens! He's a more than capable backup goalie who should get 15-20 games in. Looking like the best return in the Bernier trade. Was impressed with his preseason play and it carries over in his first start.

I feel good about today's win too, but Florida has to be the worst team in the league this season. Tampa is not much better, so we should continue to do well on this road trip.

Postgame Thoughts

Thoughts on today's game:

Richards - I still don't know why some people underestimate this guy. His hockey IQ is what makes him such a valuable player. That no-look pass to Carcillo was unbelievable. Almost connected with Carter too before that. So happy this guy is a King. He's a gamer.

Carcillo - Despite hearing all about the shortcomings on this guy, he is a pleasant surprise so far. I had no idea he could make such great passes and he always seems to be positioned well on the ice to make an impact on the game. Gotta love the smile on his face at the end of the game.

King - I don't know what happened a couple games ago, but he has really elevated his game. I noticed they were talking about him watching tape during the game today and making some adjustments in the way he's holding onto the puck.

Nolan - It seems like whenever King is doing well, Nolan is also. He was great today and that goal is a nice payoff for him.

Scrivens - I think we will all be happy with him as a backup. Seems very solid and calm in net. Might even be the hidden gem in the entire trade w/ Bernier. Time will tell.

Kopi/Williams/Brown - how about that tic-tac-toe passing from that line? It seems like Richards started the party and then these guys took over. That 2nd goal was sure fun to watch.

Frattin - He seemed to play okay today. I didn't really notice him that much. I don't see him fitting in anywhere on the team yet, but it's still early. Gonna wait to see more from him before making a determination.

Defensively, I think our combinations are actually pretty good. Sure, Regehr < Scuderi but it's not like he's this terrible player. He's definitely the whipping boy right now.

I don't expect Sutter to make any changes for the next game. Best the Kings have played all year. Complete game. Fun to watch these..

Nice win.

Something is wrong with the size of the players on all hockey sites.

Quick is listed 6'1 and Scrivens 6'2 ? but he seems to be a little smaller than Quick. Regehr 6'3 but is certainly more than two inches taller than Quick.

It looks like they are coming in at an angle to congratulate Scrivens that might cause the illusion:dunno:
