A thousand miles from nowhere
With Hall hurt they have an opportunity to dress 7 D and see how that works. Not all the time, but since their D is loaded and offering different skill sets, it might make sense for certain games.
Especially if the Bruins don't make an upgrade to their bottom six, its a way to keep a tool they may need in their toolbox.

Good question, and there probably isn't any better answer than "because it's always been that way." There is no real reason to not allow 21 to dress, or even 22.

It doesn't make any sense. What's the rule regarding 3rd goalies in the PO? Is it the standard EBUG rule? Imagine a game 7 of a series requiring an EBUG?

2 points! Mainly glad none of the Bs got a serious injury. First Brad, then Krejci, then Begy, then the brutal slash on Pasta. All the major star forwards minus Jake. Glad Hall wasn't in the lineup or he might have aggravated whatever is ailing him given the way things went tonight.

Quality road win. Edm is second in DIFF in the West and is right in the thick of things for best record in the conference. Throw in they have the best player in the world. Bs didn't play their best and still pulled this one out. Difference these kind of wins are happening this year are secondary scoring in combination with timely goal tending.

New guys are doing great. Team continues to leave it all on the ice. Keep it rolling!
100%....

Sometimes you think you dodged a bullet.

As you laid out, last night I felt like we dodged a hail of machine gun fire.

For sure can see it .That man wants to win and be the best bigtime.I thought Oilers had some looks .Yamamoto missed wide open net.Bruins pp is bothering me.

It's been way to stationary and with McAvoy a puck distributor only at the point limits their shooting options to 88\37 basically.

Was this the first time ever that a team has beaten all 31 teams in the NHL in a single season?

Well Seattle is only in its second season, so pretty good chance but say going back to
1967, I doubt it.

Yea like to see Orlov there a bit to see if he can help.Did not like the 5 forwards that was bad coaching in that situation.

Not the reason but remember there's only so much room on the bench. Some rinks backup goalies don't even fit.

And longer benches mean less high-priced seats.

Also, the modern game is basically played by 4 lines and 3 D pairs. Coaches have enough problems juggling players and matching up lines on the fly without having an extra couple of players (probably discontents) taking up space most of the time.

Oh ffs, you know what I mean. Don't be daft.

I looked at TB's historic run in 2018-19 and they lost both their games to the Wild - if there was a season where I thought it was done, it would have been that one.

Are you British?

I figured that enters into it, but there is usually room going down the runway at the bench to sit one extra player. Would imagine lots of coaches could employ a
Forbort type PK specialist. I get you can dress 7D but it means you don't have 4 full lines if you do that. Is hockey the only sport that doesn't let all of its available
roster players not dress?

Technically purely Canadian, but 2 of my grandparents are from there and I have a bunch of family there still - not sure why, but I pick up a slight accent for a small period of time every visit I make there. I probably shouldn't visit the Boston area too often, no one would be able to understand a word I say, lol.

I'm guessing the '95 Red Wings might be the last team to be every team in the NHL, but I'm still trying to look that up if they even did.

I hope we do not see a repeat of Monty putting out 5 forwards on a five on 3 when we are trying to protect a lead late in the game. Especially with guys like McDavid and Draisaitl out there gunning to score to tie it, you need to get McAvoy or Lindholm on the ice. Wayyyyy too aggressive for my liking. Hopefully a learning experience.

There is such a thing as sitting too long on the bench. You don't want players getting cold.

I'd never want to see a coach run 7 D-men only to use 6 and keep the 7th guy sitting in case of PK duty. A shift a period sometimes. Sending D-men out there cold like that is just asking for a mistake to be made.

Preseason when the Bs were practicing the 5 forward PP I mentioned that it was likely only going to be used in rare situations. I was wrong. Monty has used it quite often this season. As you mention, last night's situation in which he used it was downright poor coaching. Bs were lucky they didn't give up a goal on that 5 on 3 PP. As many on here know I absolutely love Monty and think he is as good a coach as any in the NHL. However, his fascination with the 5 forward PP is annoying as hell. Makes no sense in some of the situations he has tried it. Hopefully come playoff time that crap ends.

It’s really a nothing burger. He tried it and came close to scoring. Cmon. If Edmonton scores it’s still a tied game with point in hand. I liked the move. It was a 5-3.

HE'S NO longer an Oiler, JP.... JUST was dealt to CAR courtesy CTV Edmonton...
I'd have traded him after that play too. If you watch it, he just stands there and Orlov skates right around him and takes the puck; 13 seconds after you just scored.
