Have liked JBD the last 20 or so, a perfect guy for the bottom pairing and pressbox when needed.
I think he's already a good bottom pairing guy that can move up the lineup and not look out of place.

He looks really good when he's paired with his hero, Thomas Chabot, though that Chabot-Branny pairing was really good last night.

Not a weird analysis. He was right that we don't show up against weak teams.

What's our record against non playoff teams? If we were good, we would have almsot twice as many wins as losses.

The weird part is thinking this team has weak character because they haven't fully evolved past their recent lack of a system. It's been just a few months since JM took over and they've grown exponentially, but you can't expect them to just magically iron out every single wrinkle they grew under DJ in a few dozen games.

A team without Eichel and Stone in their line up, yes still a top tier team, but with the Sens having their full roster, with no one on the injured list, the two missing Knights may have tipped the balance in their direction.

We were missing who many here consider a top-2 dman in Zub, and under previous coaching couldn't seem to win much without. Also, we hadn't won against Vegas since their first year in the league, long before they had Eichel. We were also down by two midway through the game, which we all know up until recently would have almost guaranteed a loss, especially against a playoff team.

No, this was a very impressive victory.

True. I didn't say that though. All I said is the other poster wasn't wrong about still losing games to bottom feeders.

Kubalik needs to get traded for peanuts already so we can call up Crooker again for that 4th line. That line has been ineffective for a while now.
If he made $1 million, he would have been traded already. At $2.5 million, he has negative value. There is no point paying a team to take him on, when we can just juggle the situation for the rest of the season and not pay an asset to get rid of Kubalik.

A 1-dimensional scorer that barely scores is practically useless.

Might have to suck it up and keep him for the season. Trading him and retaining money doesn't help the cap situation at all, and we'll still have a 21 player roster, and no extra forwards. Although, trading him for a 6th round pick and retaining half his salary at least brings in a draft pick, so do it if possible.

At some point, another player will get injured for 10 games, be IR'd and we'll be able to call up MacEwen and someone else.

“We’re getting good goaltending right now”

I know sometimes the nuances/tone are lost in a second language, but he speaks the truth!
I note he said "good"; not great!

I guess I'll get to avoid the "home", i.e. the TBC broadcast.
lucky you!

I tried to explain them to my spouse, but finally pulled up a youtube video. She bust a gut laughing at them. They are a beauty Lego minifig chrome gold.
One of worst Uniform items since "The Long Pants"!

Why do I pay for Fibe?

It's saturday.
The game is on SN1

WTF

Anybody have the free stream?
You can get SN on FIBE; you just have to pay more for it. :)

Also wtf with all these Vegas fans in ottawa ?

Screams low character to me. I get the leafs/habs/wings/bruins/etc but You have a sports team in Ottawa that contributes to your community, charities, schools and you root for a random ass American team because they won something? Tell me your a low character shit without telling me your a low character shit
It's those Golden Helmets; I'm sure of it!

There are 12 posts for this game over on the vegas board. 18 for the Leafs game. Good thing the casinos bought all the season tickets. Lol.

Their trade deadline stock are both rising in value…… just saying .
Chabot is not going anywhere. It's very obviously going to be Chychrun moving if they go that route.

Kind of annoying seeing sens fans pumping tires on the main boards because of a winning streak after we lost the season AGAIN.

Like, didn't we realize we sucked this year and the season was done in November/December. Haven't we realized this team always does better in the second half once the pressure is off?

It's been several years of this team winning games when they're well below 500 only to have them hit 500 and then lose a bunch of games because the pressure is on. Same thing this year, but everyone is falling for it AGAIN.

Why do you guys keep doing this to yourselves?

Just wait until they clinch a playoff spot and then go nuts.

It's like humility and humbleness are non existent.
Well, that was a non Ottawa fan that started the thread, no?

At least they arent running head first in to the wall doing the same dumb shit over and over again with DJ. I think people are just excited they've actually made some real, long requested change in coaching (and management) and they feel its paying off.

Could all be for not, but imo this is a completely different team under JM that will have real progress into next season. And most people seemed to accept it would always need to be this way with the old regime being gutted out.

To be honest, while totally appreciating these last games, they just make me more angry about the season as a whole. It seems as if they can only show up when there is some bad blood in the game: Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, top 8 teams. But then they totally disappear when points are to be gathered on longer stretches against bottom 20 teams where no extra-motivation is part of the game. This doesn't speak well of character nor their default system.
Nor their coaching staff's ability to motivate them.

I think a huge change JM made is the shorter shifts. That’s why our 2nd periods were so bad under DJ. They would stay out a little too long and with the long change would get tired and eventually hemmed in their own zone.
I agree that part of the problem was the team being hemmed into its D zone and players not being able to go off the ice for a shift change.

The team needed to change its shift change strategy during the second periods. Too many times our players left the ice with the puck not being shot deep into the O zone.

If tarasenko wants to come back…. Would be hard to say no. Not at 5 tho.
I would rather have Tarasenko at $5M than some other vet who could not shoot, score and pass. We have had vets who were well beyond their "best before date" on this roster. Some of them, have been well into their "total crap after dates"!

Yeah agreed. But people will still see like a physical third line “two way” guy as much more valuable. Just because of rep.

Tarasenko has given us more than I thought and much more than I mistakenly thought he was giving us at the start of the season.
