If they have to save him from himself to get the best Chara they can down the stretch then it’s something they must do. They have the personnel to do it
At 4:54 of the third period in the Islanders/Bruins game, Boston requested a Coach's Challenge to review whether New York was off-side prior to Cal Clutterbuck's goal.
After reviewing all available replays and consulting with the Linesman, the Situation Room determined that New York's Devon Toews was off-side prior to the goal. According to Rule 78.7, "The standard for overturning the call in the event of a 'GOAL' call on the ice is that the Toronto Video Room, after reviewing any and all available replays and consulting with the Linesman, determines that one or more Players on the attacking team preceded the puck into the attacking zone prior to the goal being scored and that, as a result, the play should have been stopped for an "Off-side" infraction; where this standard is met, the goal will be disallowed." Therefore, the original call is overturned - no goal New York Islanders.
The clock is re-set to show 15:11 (4:49 elapsed time), when the off-side infraction occurred.
I'm a Rams fans still smarting at the SB loss, with most of my venom going to coach McVay. Despite that I really enjoyed the pre-game ceremony with the Pat players and the Bruins, very cool, topped off by Bergy getting 2 goals in his 1000th game, great all around night.
I just hope they either sit or bubble wrap Carlo in the final week of the regular season. Wouldn't be a bad idea to sit Chara some, here and there. See how it works out. The depth is there.
