Agree no one will confuse Phil for the second coming of 99 or 66. That said he (Danault) was good enough last year that one of his wingers led team in points and the two tied for team lead in goals. playing with Phil is a great opportunity for CC

...due to the complete lack of options available at C for the last few years...and comparing Gallagher, who works like a rabid dog to score in tight, to Caufield, who has an elite shot and finds the open areas to get it off, is comparing apples to oranges as far as the type of player is concerned...there is no lack of options for Caufield to play with this year, so why not play him with a C that has better offensive creativity and ability, the areas of the game that Suzuki and Kotkaniemi have over Danault...Hell, even Evans has shown better offensive chops than Phil lately...Danault is an elite #3C, that's what he is on any contender and that's what he'll continue to be...playing our best offensive prospect in a decade or more with him is a waste of Caufield's game...

It's just so stupid to play a good shooter with Phil Danault, why not play Armia with PD and allow CC to build some chemistry with Suzuki, probably the only center that can get him the puck for a scoring chance. Phil will dump it and both he and Mr Anderson will chase it down and CC can just hang out, he won't get a pass from either one of them.

It's like Forest Gump is coaching this group.................tonight, two of our very best shoot first guys, are with a 3rd line checking centre, who struggles to make a good pass when rushed.....I just can't sometimes......

Tatar's uptick in points last year came from the power player, not 5v5. He had 8 pts in 80 games the year before, then 14 in 68 games last year.

What? he had 47 even strength points in 68 games last year vs 50 in 80 games the year before. Even strength production per game was up.

well this sucks. Success is a double edged sword when you're high paid managemet team is incapable of cap / recall strategies.

Frolik and Evans are emergency recalls too. If Tatar comes back Frolik will probably be out of the lineup.

Hmm, I think Ottawa would roll the mutant's line out against Lehks - Evans - CC all night long as they'd have last change. That wouldn't be stacking the odds in our favour.

I get why using CC with Danault & Anderson makes sense for this game - CC might even profit from coasting in to pick up any scraps the other two dig out from the boards and he gets Anderson riding shotgun for him.
