Many thanks for this and so many other GDTs, @macmaroon, and I'm sorry to read of the passing of your mum. This dedicated GDT comes from the best in the business -- it's an honour, and a lovely touch.

I would have thought it would have been Toninato.

PB rock/ paper / scissors

GudVet >>>>>>>>>>>> GudHair

Don't want to look into it too much, but Monahan skipping the game day optional skate looks bad.....especially off a 10 day break. He might be healing from something, but it would look off in the locker room with cup aspirations.

Maybe I'm making something more then it should be.

GoJetsGo

edit: he is probably dealing with the move and everything surrounding it.

Monahan = PLD rumours incoming

My odds-on Sawbux talking points tonight:

- Monahan timely faceoffs
- Monahan "big body / hard to move"
- Monahan as wily vet, takes care of details, coaches trust, etc
- Improved PP movement, really liking SeanMon in bumper, etc
- Odes to Jets 5v5 play
- Monahan + Lowry, Jets hard to play down the middle
- Monahan great in the room, prankster Schmitty, oh what fun
- Random Jet wings it over the net = "shooter's mentality"
- Blah blah blah Monahan blah blah blah, ad infinitum

Tony Nato will be next when and if Gus Bus gets healthy, speaking of health Gus Bus isn't very dude picks up injuries like my car hits potholes.

He did just move here. Perhaps Mony is taking some time to settle in and get set up in town?

Forgot about Monahan - hope he has a good debut!

Bit disappointed we might lose AJF though

@macmaroon, I'm saddened to belatedly learn of the passing of your mother. I joined the GDT in late morning and quickly offered my little chirp without taking the time to read any of this thread first. I'm also mortified to discover that when we were exchanging DMs last Wednesday, it was so soon after her death. Please forgive my clueless insensitivity.

I hope the heaviness in your heart gradually fades and the memories you have of your mom make for happier days.

PLD would mess up the good vibes in the room... pass.
(p.s. last/last November/December I was ready to sign that 9+ million contract for him)
I thought the :sarcasm: was implied. Never mind the dressing room, look at the guy's performance this season! Even with 50% retention would any team want to spend $4.25 million a year on him?

Regarding today's theme of Hockey X Butler, I can actually say I have some experience with that; one afternoon, I was in a small Arizona's casino's "high limit" room ($25 min, lol) but it was super nice, all newly renoed, big screens and such, so it seemed a good place to catch the Jets game.

As things started going, I noticed that the Jets game wasn't on the TV at my table, and while I was planning my next step, the dealer told me that drink service was here.

I turned around and to my surprise, for the first time ever in a casino, it was not a cocktail waitress but a butler. Actual butler, late middle age man, 'received British' pronunciation, dressed to the nines, metal sleeve garters and everything. You could not imagine more of a stereotype if you tried.

I asked him to get me a Perrier (I was there with my family this afternoon so couldn't really cut loose :P) and he was all "very good sir", and like five minutes later, he comes back and he's got a whole ass 1L bottle of the stuff, which he put in an ice bucket(!) on a stand, cup of fresh limes and two glasses on a little rolling stand, everything.

Needless to say I gave him a nice tip, and when he asked me if there was anything else he could do, I asked him if he could go over to the other side of the room and check on the score on the hockey game.

After a few more hands, I hear him say "excuse me, sir", and when I turn around, he said with a completely serious deadpan:

"The blue team has three points, sir, and the red team has two."

Oh man.

To this day, that surely remains the single most sophisticated out-of-town scoreboard update in NHL history.

He was probably checking out some North End rooming houses looking for a place he can call home while he's here. Somehwere with a minimal amount of drive by shootings or random stabbings.:D

Deepest condolences on your loss, Mac.

May your mom be a good luck charm for the Jets tonight And if she's watching the game up there in heaven and sees Stdney going in on a breakaway if she could just give a little finger waggle and trip him up that would be cool.

Interesting.

Bodog has the game at even. Both teams paying 1.909:1 for the win. But the Jets -2.5 are paying 5:1 while the Pens -2.5 are paying 4.85:1.

I have no idea what to expect tonight so I think I'll just put a small wager on the Jets to win in regulation. 2.5:1 if they pull it off.
