Yah y'know boys, Corey was standing tall in net today, eh? The Preds really executed that game plan, y'know, got lots of shots on Tuukka, yah, but Crawford.

I'd like to see Quenneville gather the boys in the room after this one and deliver a good old hockey speechy McGee: "Alrighty boys, nice win out there tonight, got enough shots on net to get the job done. Against the Habs on Thursdee I'd like to see some more pressure on their defensemen, some more hitting, grit, intimidation, old style, gotta make them think, y'know, gotta get the job done and give Corey some support, gotta clear the front of the net, keep that crease clean, get pucks in deep, ice the puck if the pressure's too much, smart plays, smart plays, smart along the boards, chip outs, get it in deep, get it in real deep, oh yeah, get the puck in the zone boys, that's the key right there, boys we gotta do better making their defensemen turn, y'know? Great game tonight boys."

Quenneville has to start earning the money on that 'stension, y'know? He's gotta get his own pucks on net, pressure pressure grit heart. Get the boys in order, make sure their eyes are on the gritty prize. Stay tough on the boards, that's where these Hawks excel. Need a bit more hitting. Really getting sick of this soft baby caboose nonsense out there on the ice battlefield. I can't stand it! That's not how hockey is meant to be played, y'know boys?

Fantastic win all around, perfect hockey being played out there, wouldn't change a thing.

Sad I had to miss the game. Back in Iowa for the next 4 months, so I won't be able to see many games until the playoffs, probably.

Anyways, now that I rely on most of my hockey information from you all, how did TT look in 2C role?

Funny you bring up hockey 101 when you should know that only **** players would not know how to lift a stick without getting out of position. A good play with your stick also allows you to maintain proper gap and allows you to create gap when you get the puck. Hockey 101.

I see it every night in the NHL:sarcasm:

When one relies on stickwork, the tendency is to stop moving your feet.

Proof of our sloppy Q Country Club game..not only the 43 shots on goal we gave up..but for a team not Taki g many penalties tonight we took way too many...and of course..12 ...count them...12 give-aways! Q should be sending them to the firing g squad for this putrid no compete sloppy let CC bail us out game..only a few showed up to compete. .I Know we missed Anisimov..but still the majority 9f the team should have used Anisimov being out with illness to rally around the cause and show team support and purpise.. but as I said...few showed up ...luckily with CC the real star we had enough to win..But we got to play better than this mess.

Dude...are you ever happy? All you ever post is this player is lazy or this player has no heart. 2nd best record in West, and 3rd in the NHL. Sit back, dont type for awhile, and enjoy life..or you are the master troller, if so props

Two strong games definitely disproves everything. :sarcasm:

In all serious, I'm happy it's working for now.

It hasn't only been two strong games, but whatever makes you feel better. In general, he's been pretty good there. I still don't see him as a long-term solution, but he definitely has not been the liability people made him out to be. Results on the ice matter a hell of a lot more than the ideal lineup on paper.

And Shaw on the top line isnt good why?

I don't think anyone considered Shaw a liability on the first line. It was more that the line wasn't scoring and Shaw was not the answer to get them going. I repeat myself when I say that Shaw is fine there (for now) as long as he plays within his skill set and gets the puck to his teammates. And being the opportunist that he has shown lately is a huge bonus. Has Shaw secured a permanent spot up there? I doubt it, but it is working right now. Of course it helps that Hossa and Toews are in good form lately, but Shaw has been hustling to keep up to his future HOF linemates. Good on him!

When a person goes for hits they have a tendency to hit themselves out of position. You can't assume hitting correctly and then assume bad stick work. We both know that with the Hawks style play hitting is not going to happen. Our biggest hit year was 2010 and we were 15th and the rest of the years we are bottom 5. You are placing value in something that this team does not do. Hits have less value to the Hawks and a far different value than what the Kings value it at. Both styles work but to this point the Hawks style is more effective and 100% a better fit with how this team is built (we are styled after the eastern block Russian teams). Structure and a strong transition game. You are placing value in something that does not have value to the Hawks.

He was the fine and the line showed some explosiveness by we were on the PK/PP a bit to much to have proper 5v5 flow.

Huge, get him off there Q, you have no idea what you are doing!

Sarcasm aside, he has been the best fit there out of all of our options, AINEC.

I agree but I still think he will best on our 4th line in the playoffs if we can pickup a 1LW. Makes our team have incredible balance.

24-11 looked worse with out TT. He makes the offense go on that line.

Can't say I disagree with that, but if we don't find a top line LW? I am OK with Shaw staying there.

Yes TT brought balance to the force on that line. OK star wars on the brain.

It's nice if things keep going like they are, we know what we need, a 1LW. Easy to go shopping when you know what ya need.

amazing come playoff time if that happens, barring inj

1LW - 19 - 81
party line
65 - 24 - TT
11 - 16 - 14?

one guy is gone if we do that. we would have 70 28 and 53 as extra F's. I think 14 might have the most skill of these guys, maybe 70 on the W in playoffs.

I would go.

11-24-86
65-16-28/Kero (gives you 3 centers who all play good d and Kero can PK)

How in the world do we bring in a 1LW and not go over the salary cap?

If Panik thrives in our system (taps a bit of that potential, I like his size, speed, physical play already in that game against Nashville but that's just one game.. does have NHL experience though) As someone who wanted to see us acquire 2 LW instead of one a month ago before Desy started playing out of his mind...

LW - Toews - Hossa
Panarin - Anisimov - Kane
Panik - Danault - Teravainen
Desjardins - Kruger - Shaw (I think they'll be fantastic again this playoffs)

You look for a player with a deal that is expiring or is on a ELC (Drouin) and you pay to have the team retain.

Ex. We trade for Ladd. We trade Dano and a 2nd for Ladd @50% retained. The retained salary with Kruger LTIR money and Bickell sent down allow us to do such a deal. (The trade is an example and not true value).

Stats show we did win faceoff battle ...we got 59.53% overall and we were 65%in the defensive zone which surprised me because I thought Nashville kept getting possession when tge draw was in our zone...I guess not Except for when we faced-off in our zone ..there we won only 44% (4/9) but it seemed the 5 we did lose gave them great possession and zone time and scoring chances from that on their PPs.

It seems this IS a continuing issue since we are at 45% on short-handed draws as our season average to date.

Stats last night showed Toews was 89% in the d-zone draws..but that he only lost 1 Short-handed draw...I know this is false
Because I saw him lose 2 consecutive drastic on the same PK and for such a hefty paycheck and vaunted face-off "star" I was irritated by his disinterest in not coming through to help us get possession by not bearing down to won thise key draws. SO something is fishy in how they are collecting the stats..it also seemed to me like we lost a lot more short'handed draws in our zone than just winning 4 of 9...but maybe my mind played tricks?

ANYWAY .it appears our ongoing short-handed face-off losses and consequent chasing the puck on the pk by lost possession from the getgo on such draws IS a major problem that continues all season so far..Maybe Stan needs to trade for a face-off specialist and good pk guy?

First off, I like Shaw on the top line, always did. He brings a different dynamic and isnt afraid to stand in front of the net or the corners.

TT on the third line is perfect. Playing with two guys who do nothing but get him the puck and allow him to create just shows TT needs to be the main focus of whatever line he is on and thats where he is most effective. He isnt as effective playing with Kane ot the top line, he needs his own line.

All in all, this team is shaping up nicely.

He has actually shown in the past that he and Kane are dangerous together. If 72 would have been ready for that pass in the 1st it was an easy goal. He just did not expect 86 to make that pass.

Perhaps. But it wasn't the perfect soft dish you generally see from 88 that has spoiled Panarin to some degree. :) . It looked to me like the pass had a lot of steam on it, and it handcuffed 72 to the point where he couldn't one time it. He'll be ready next time I reckon.
