Just got back from the game. Edler and Tanev were pretty much the only good players for the Canucks tonight. The team looked gassed. Boeser was decent and their best forward by a large margin. Pouliot was tragic. Time for him to sit for a long time! How can Travis reasonably play him ahead of Biega and Delzotto???? Goldobin was disappointing. He clearly can't drive the play. Decent complimentary player but that's about it.

Team is last-place garbage without Pettersson carrying them.

The following players are not NHL-caliber and it’s a complete joke they’re entrenched as regulars here :

Erik Gudbranson
Derrick Pouliot
Markus Granlund
Tim Schaller

Sutter is skating in mud since coming back. But is somehow being used as an offensive center while Horvat stays in the Malhotra role.

Markstrom did all he could. Tanev was excellent.

Would honestly be better if Pettersson was out for an extended period so this pathetic roster can get Benning fired.

Gudbranson -19, 1 point in 21 games since his cute little scoring streak ended ... while playing depth minutes. Just a complete pile of dog crap. Can’t wait for the day I don’t have to watch this loser in a Canuck uniform.
Pettersson is on the team though...last time I checked..So is an improved Markstrom..

The mind boggling eastern road trips are over ..and hopefully, so are the brutal run of injuries...

Not seeing Benning getting fired anytime soon..

When the wheels fall of then we will see how long Benning lasts.

Benning's team is being exposed.

No, he probably won’t. Solely because accidentally lucking into Pettersson has saved his job.

This is a horrible team filled with horrible players other than the ones this horrible GM inherited or had his scouts draft with high picks.

From what .?.... from being a consensus bottom 5 team, to how this season is playing out.?.Looks to me that things are ahead of schedule..

Was'nt accidental at all...They had their eyes on him the whole time...

Why follow the horrible team with horrible players...?.Why put yourself through it..?.Go follow the Leafs or something?..See ya...Most people are enthusiastic about the future of the team.

They signed Eriksson to a $36 million contract ahead of that season and traded a big futures package for Gudbranson. They ended up in a position to draft him completely by accident solely because Benning was so incompetent at his job.

Plus all the circumstantial evidence indicates Pettersson wasn’t the guy Benning wanted.

Sorry, but what a f***ing stupid comment.

I care about this team and have followed and supported it for 30 years and am completely entitled to be upset when it’s embarrassingly mismanaged by a collection of morons.

When are the wheels falling off?....When EP gets worse?....When Boeser and Horvat and Jake start regressing?..When Hughes bombs?..Seriously?

When Tanev leaves and Edler regresses and we have nothing coming on the blueline.

McDavid, Draisaitl, and the Oilers should give you a pretty good idea what happens when you have a badly managed team with a couple highly drafted stars and no defense or supporting cast.

Oilers has no winger, but Canucks at least has adequate winger deep. Canucks will not be the leafs or Flames or Jets though, may be like NYI or Hurricanes.

Big trades are few and far between. Benning is building a team through the draft. At worst he is a mediocre GM, but the pieces are coming. What would you Benning haters like to see? A Taylor Hall type trade?

So were going to be the Oilers now..?

If Poo, Del Zotto and Guddy can be jettisoned over the summer and replaced with competent players better days are coming. In the cases of Guddy and Poo, an infatuation of sorts must be gotten over, probably wishful thinking. Someone, or something has to reach Benning and Green...

I, for one, would love to trade a top-4 D-man for Taylor Hall.

What is this referring to?

We have published media reports that Judd Brackett, Thomas Gradin, and Ron Delorme - the three head scouts in the organization - were all hugely high on Pettersson.

Yet despite this seemingly unanimous selection, we also have quotes from Benning himself about what a huge debate there was before drafting Pettersson.

Linden gave huge props to Judd Brackett for making the Pettersson selection happen but didn’t mention Benning.

There has never been a single media mention linking Benning’s scouting to driving that puck (unlike Juolevi and Hughes).

Benning’s quotes and mannerisms about the Pettersson pick at the time were completely different than what we saw in 2016 and 2018 with players he obviously wanted badly - think of the Lidstrom comparisons with Juolevi and the astonishment and joy that Hughes was available.

He actively tried to trade down in that draft - again, can you imagine him doing that with Hughes on the board last year?

His son is a scout based in Portland where Cody Glass was playing.

Connect the dots ... obviously I can’t prove this but the evidence is pretty overwhelming. If Jim Benning was a driving force behind the Pettersson selection, you’d be hearing about it from Ian MacIntyre in every intermission of every game.
