Motte?
The guy has been like one of our best players all season and preseason

That's hyperbole, he's been good overall but that whole line aside from Beagles has been up and down. Motte is currently on a good run of games but let's not pretend like he hasn't had extended stretches of off-nights as well. Because he has.

Hell
95+% of professional athletes are bringing a work ethic every game.

I feel like every time people talk about a player working hard, it basically just means that they're fast.

It also likely means they’re constantly chasing the play.

What do you mean nope, he’s like one of our best players every single night, and out of all her plugs he’s easily been the best.

What have you been watching this season

He had a good first preseason and first 3 games of the season. Then he was literally one of the worst players in the NHL for the next 2 months. Then his minutes finally got cut back and he’s had a better last 10 games. And so his minutes are getting pumped up and he’ll become a liability again.

He should never be playing more than 10 minutes/game as a 4th line PK specialist.

Since when was he defined by scoring, he’s one of the few players that actually bring some sort of work ethic every single game.

Just like russell

Work ethic is nice but if you don’t have talent it’s worthless. There are dozens of guys that can fill his role that aren’t in the NHL and do just as good.

I think there are way worse players that need to be focussed on then a guy like motte.
Lets all come together and try to figure out why the f*** granlund is still in the nhl after these past two seasons.

Bo is fine where he is, this whole thing is Edler's fault.

Earlier in the year when they would get a one-timer from Boeser/EP, Bo would be there to tip it or collect the garbage. Now they basically have a one-timer only from Boeser's side because Edler can't provide good service (as they say in soccer) for EP. Boeser himself is not really getting good shots off or as one-timers.

EP is playing really deep as a result so except for a pass through the PK box back to Boeser it has to be a down-low play. At his position Bo can really only try for the jam play or reset the play.

A valid criticism might be for Bo to fade into the slot for a bang-bang play (which Leivo has been doing) but as a left hand shot it's a hard play for EP as a lefty-to-lefty If the play is run through him. You could come from the other side but you're counting on Boeser feeding Bo and he hasn't shown the same playmaking this year so that's unlikely.

In fact I think they only feed it to Bo because the one-timer has been taken away on Boeser's side and they don't really know what to do. It wasn't nearly as common earlier in the season because everything was keyed off the one-timer. They didn't even have both options at that time. Now they have two snipers on either side and they've taken that option away from themselves on their own. IMO that is pure stupidity.

Taking Hutton off PP1 has had many and unintended consequences.

Agreed. I just don't think he realizes how much time he's got, it's like he feels that he needs to create on his own when he should just give it back to Elias

Oh, Granlund is far worse.

Motte is ok when his minutes are limited. As soon as dumb coaches decide to play him 15+ minutes, his complete lack of talent makes him a liability.

This I totally agree with. But let’s not pretend Motte is this saviour.

That Horvat, Virtanen, Erikson line looks disconnected tonight so far. Jake hasn't been moving like he can at all. Kind of a disappointing night so far from them.

As I write it, I see they are juggling them up a bit.

He might be the best plug but he’s still a plug.

Every team needs players to fill out the lineup that do things other than score. You know, like go and dig out the puck off the boards to get it to players that can score, or be defensive forwards. It's a TEAM GAME. Being the best plug is nothing to sniff at. Motte has been an important player for us.
