This may not be a popular opinion, but I don't think Nordstrom is a 2nd liner. He had some good plays, decent goal, is hard working, etc... but he doesn't seem to have a very high hockey IQ, any specific skills that stand out, and despite being a hard worker, seems to lose a lot of puck battles. 3rd line material at best, IMO... definitely no place on our top 2 lines if this team is a serious competitor.
Don't think you are wrong in him not being a second liner, but I do think he just gels in the same way Riley Nash does (not just because he wears #20 & came from the Canes on a 2 year, ~$1mil aav contract when they were 26). He is a smart, utility guy who can slot in anywhere and be fine. Obviously not a guy you want to see in the top 6 or someone who is gonna put up 50 but a really solid all around guy and great penalty kiler.

I’m not saying this is why, but Heinen was not a Top 20 pick in a draft where other blue chip players were passed over.

I love DeBrusk, but IMO the B’s organization is totally invested in him doing well...for a number of reasons.
I know what your saying but they've got to get DeBrusk going.

Krejci sucks

He almost waited to long before passing to Nordy

I’m 100% sure because he didn’t care not because he was waiting for the perfect time
Krejci is elite at being indifferent, has an indifference rate of 1/GP. One of the best all time

Very nice to see Nords staying on the 2nd. Much deserved.

Never thought I'd say this but he deserves a longer look there. Thinking if Donato struggles on the third line after a handful of games, he should see time in Providence. It could do wonders for his confidence. In the meantime, if a guy like Cehlarik shows he's ready for a call-up, give him a shot.

I agree. I was ready to blow a gasket when I first read Alicat's post then I took a closer look and saw he was still on the second line.

It's strange how chemistry works isn't it? Putting him on that line changed everything.

You serious ? At least he is noticeable unlike Heinen so far this year and has had chances.
Yes.

I want him to sit because it will give him a kick that he needs to get going.

I hope he can get going without sitting but if Cassidy is willing to sit guys, why not sit DeBrusk early.

Debrusk hasn’t produced but he’s still noticeably playing hard and making a difference. Heinen hasn’t stood out much this year and it still not just because of his style.

It’s like last year when Heinen went on that drought but still played solid. That’s where Debrusk is right now for me.

DeBrusk is deceptively fast and I think hes done a solid using that to start this season
