Challenge Initiated By: Boston

Type of Challenge: Goaltender Interference

Result: Call on the ice is upheld – Goal Detroit

Explanation: After video review, it was determined that the actions of Brandon Carlo contributed to Detroit’s Michael Rasmussen’s stick making contact with Jeremy Swayman’s glove outside the crease and therefore, did not constitute goaltender interference. The decision was made in accordance with Rule 69.1 which states, in part, that the goal should be allowed because “Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease…”

Penalty: 2:00 minor penalty: Delay of Game – Unsuccessful Challenge
Rasmussen’s stick hit Swayman’s glove before Carlos actions tho
That’s what I’m not understanding

Just checked on the Montreal/Tampa game and saw something in hockey I've never seen before.
Tampa player shoots puck at Montreal goalie. The goalie looks like he's going to hold the puck and the ref has his whistle in his mouth, but the goalie instead passes the puck to his defenseman. Tampa's goalie, thinking the play was called dead, wanders from his net and the Montreal player scores into an empty net.
The refs review the play and determine the whistle wasn't blown and the goal is good.
The Tampa fans were ballistically pissed.

They looked for a long while to allow the goal and still were incorrect. Typical NHL.

Bruins overcame. Excellent win. Frederic had one of his good games.

I believe Rask did something similar a few years ago, but he got back to the net before any damage was done.

Does anybody know the penalty discrepancy between the Bruins and Wings in their 4 games, it's not pretty for Boston. These refs continually fall for Detroit's tactics, makes them look really foolish. For the Bruins to win with everything against them (schedule, road game, refs) is really impressive. There was no passengers for the 3rd consecutive game after the Xmas break.

24 to 13 PPs.

Quite dubious of the NHL.
