Yes this is true but I have always wondered why the trade deadline is when most loves should be made. Why not earlier, obviously assuming there is a partner. The holes that need to be filed or addressed for this type of year aren't the biggest names to be had. They need some solid depth options and should be doable. Trying to do too much like last year's deadline didn't go so well and not enough time to gel and adjust imo.
I know Sweeney may wait until the deadline and that is fine. Just saying other teams make things happen all season long so it's not impossible.
There have been 6 trades in the NHL since the season started, and two of them were 7th round picks for Bogosian and Bortuzzo. Then the Zadorov/Beauvillier gambit. Eric Robinson for a 7th. And Calen Addison. That’s it.

This team is set up for years

They will hit on 19 year old Poitras, 22 year old Lohrei and Bussi who’s probably better than half the NHL backups now and playing phenomenal in the AHL and draws Swayman comps on and off ice

I’ll leave the worrying to others - I been low on their point total last 3 years and look like coming in again

If they can add Hanifin that D & G will be hockey equivalent to the 1970 Orioles starting pitching and left side of infield
They could use Hanifin now. Hanafin and Lindholm would be a terrific left side top 4 for a long time.

I thought they had fled themselves really good. New Jersey just started to overtake them towards the end. They skated hard and just couldn’t score another. Don’t see why there’s doom and gloom.

So your saying teams can and have made trades? I'm not even saying in the first three months but before the deadline. Instead of waiting until the last minute. Just my opinion.
Not a sky is falling scenario either. Getting a bottom painting defenceman or a bottom depth player that hits with purpose would be a welcomed addition.
I must be wrong again eh.

Thanks for confirming my post.
So any trades that don't happen hours before the trade deadline is jumping the gun?! Ok. Got it. Why is it that any mention of filling a need on the team means the sky is falling and that I'm one of those people? Would rather a player have time to gel with the team.
I must be wrong again eh.

Childish argument. Just like thinking that marrying a porn star is desirable, when it is in fact as gross as it gets.
Really? It’s childish ? On this board…..ohhhh. My. God

Whatever
