They did a interview with Jussi Parkkila the Colorado Avalanche goaltending coach last week in finnish television. He said that he has never done as much work as he did with Grubauer.
He said that he had to turn to a mental coach in Finland who helped with Grubauer. Apparently he has problems with his self confidence. On the other hand he said that the guy is very smart and coachable with his mistakes. If you show him a mistake he made he can see it right away and also change his game so he doesn't make that mistake in the future.
Now his confidence is shot and it shows. he should get help for that by our goalie coach and defensive play too.

Just looked it up. Grubauer is 46th in the league in save percentage.
Save percentage can be a bit of a deceptive stat, unless it is correlated with high quality chances.

This team gives up an obscene amount of quality chances game after game, and a lot of goals this season you can't really pin on Grubauer, but there is no arguing he has not played great so far, and tonight he's been extra bad.

It's not just about shots allowed.
Just look at the first three goals we gave up.
Okay, But how often does he bail his team out with a great save? Sometimes your basic NHL goalie has to be able to stand on his head. He has seldom been up to that task.

He just did that a couple of times today after Columbus scored their first.

Look, no one's saying he's been good this season, but this is an all around problem given that this team's still making the same mistakes nearly 30 games into the season and is putting their goalies in bad positions all the time.
