Carlyle is lost....

JVR - Bozak - Kessel
Raymond - Kadri - Clarkson
Smith - Holland - Kulemin
Ashton - McClement - Orr

Phaneuf - Gunner
Gardiner - Franson
Fraser/Ranger - Rielly

It's not that ****ing hard

As for the forward line-up, Carlyle likes to use a checking line and in the scenario you proposed, our 4 best defensive guys are on 4 different lines (Bozak, Raymond, Kulemin, McClement).

JVR - Holland - Kessel
Smith - Kadri - Clarkson
Raymond - Bozak - Kulemin
Ashton - McClement - Orr

Gardiner/Rielly - Phaneuf
Rielly/Gardiner - Gunnar
Fraser - Ranger

This is the line-up I'd like tonight... seriously, you've sat Rielly, Gardiner, Ranger, and Fraser, but still haven't benched the guy who has by far been the worst DEFENSEman.

Edit: If Carlyle didn't use a shut-down line, I'd like your lines a lot.

Hard to believe that either Reimer or Bernier will have 2 horrible games in a row.

We're gonna win, both today and tomorrow, and goalies will be first stars.

So ashton is for holland? I like ashton. Grit and hustle. Skates hard every shift.

Mclaren-Ashton-Orr line tonight? That could be a real HARD line lol

Couple things...

Through 10 games, Smithson is 59% on the FO's... nice
McClement is 55% on FO? nice again, if Bozak picks it up and Kadri gets to ~47ish% we'll probably be one of the top FO teams.

Somebody mentioned earlier that Rielly has been our 2nd best Dman and it got me thinking (although I might put him at #3 as Gunnarson plays a lot harder minutes, I agree). Kid is going to be an absolute stud if he can be the 2nd best Dman on a playoff team (albeit poor defensive team) at 19 years old. Love Rielly!

Edit: This is also a great time (in my opinion) to go on a win streak... good chance we can, and we need to.
Two divisonal rivals that are struggling and 2 goalies looking for redemption. We will want to beat both and should have a good effort, helps that Bernier will most likely play his home team too!

I'm glad Holland is being used after the trade...

He was expected to just fill in until our injuries are fixed. He can be sent down to the AHL waiver free as well so he'll likely be down there when Lupul or Bolland come back. Saves us a 2nd rounder.

Not many teams ever have. Certainly none of the Leafs teams since I've started watching in '92.

You need to watch a lot more games! There are plenty of teams that can, and do play hard, for a full 60 minutes. That doesn't mean mistakes aren't made. However, there is a big difference between playing hard, and making a mistake or two, and playing lazy, uninspired, poor positional hockey.

I have watched hockey for 50 years and coached for 10 years.

Come on Leafs, make up for this week by actually playing a solid game tonight (despite Carlyle's best efforts)...

Either way I'll be getting Rob Ford wasted!
